PURPOSE:To produce an orthodontic appliance which has high corrosion resistance, high durability and high toughness and is deformable and adjustable to meet treatment by consisting this orthodontic appliance of an amorphous alloy having a supercooling liquid region. CONSTITUTION:Molten metal is gushed out of a small hole 2a of a nozzle 2 between rotating twin rolls 5 made of copper, by which a continuous amorphous wire 6 is obtd. This continuous wire 6 is supplied to a hot press mold side having an upper mold 7, a lower mold 8, a slide 9 and an ejector pin 10. The front end of the continuous wire 6 is heated to 670K before charging to the press molds and is pressed at the strain rate meeting the viscoelastic behavior of the supercooling liquid region, by which a bracket 11 having the form meeting the press molds is molded. This bracket 11 has the high corrosion resistance, high durability and high toughness specific to the amorphous alloy and is safe to the living body. Since the bracket is molded of the amorphous alloy having the wide supercooling liquid region, the shape of the bracket 11 is freely deformable and adjustable at need even during the course of the treatment. |
