328 Christmas tree installation using coiled tubing injector US13267398 2011-10-06 US10036214B2 2018-07-31 Mark S. Britton
A method and system for installing a Christmas tree in place of a blowout preventer on a wellhead. The donut in the wellhead BOP is landed using a coiled tubing injector. Then the wellhead BOP is removed and the Christmas tree is installed using the same crane that supported the coiled tubing injector. This employs the coiled tubing rig already in use at the well site for a previous operation, such as plug drilling or perforating and fracturing. Notably, the system provides a second seal, such as a ceramic disk, below the donut while the Christmas tree is installed. The tool string used to install the donut includes a safety union so that the tool string can be disconnected after the donut is landed and locked into place.
329 Composite fracture plug and associated methods US14453389 2014-08-06 US10018008B2 2018-07-10 Brandon M. Cain; Jason A. McGinnis
On a wellhead, a well component, such as a casing head, has a bowl with a first shoulder and a groove defined therein. A hanger for supporting casing positions in the bowl, and a latch assembly on the hanger latches the hanger in the groove. The latch can have a traveling ring and a latch ring supported on the hanger's exterior surface. The traveling ring engages the first shoulder in the bowl and pushes the latch ring against a portion of the hanger, such as a second shoulder. The latch ring has a joint at a split in the latch ring, and the joint holds the latch ring in a compressed state about the exterior surface. When the latch ring moves with the engagement of the traveling ring against the hanger portion, the joint is disjointed, and the latch ring expands outward into the groove to latch the hanger in the bowl.

338 Fluid supply to sealed tubulars US15132998 2016-04-19 US09845653B2 2017-12-19 Don M. Hannegan; Thomas F. Bailey; Melvin T. Jacobs; Nicky A. White
A Drill-To-The-Limit (DTTL) drilling method variant to Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) applies constant surface backpressure, whether the mud is circulating (choke valve open) or not (choke valve closed). Because of the constant application of surface backpressure, the DTTL method can use lighter mud weight that still has the cutting carrying ability to keep the borehole clean. The DTTL method identifies the weakest component of the pressure containment system, such as the fracture pressure of the formation or the casing shoe leak off test (LOT). With a higher pressure rated RCD, such as 5,000 psi (34,474 kPa) dynamic or working pressure and 10,000 psi (68,948 kPa) static pressure, the limitation will generally be the fracture pressure of the formation or the LOT. In the DTTL method, since surface backpressure is constantly applied, the pore pressure limitation of the conventional drilling window can be disregarded in developing the fluid and drilling programs.
339 Downhole protection apparatus US14782485 2014-05-02 US09840877B2 2017-12-12 Chris Blackmon
A downhole protection apparatus, for use in protecting downhole control lines, comprises a sheath defining a channel configured to receive a control line. The sheath is configured to be attached to a tubing. In wellbore applications, the control lines associated with a tubing are inserted into the sheath such that the body of the sheath at least partially encompasses the control line and shields the control line from harsh downhole conditions which may include abrasive action from sand, proppants, wellbore cuttings and other debris. Therefore, the apparatus is configured such that after insertion of a control line into the channel, a body of the sheath protects the control line from an outside environment.
