A clothing for supporting a wet paper web for dewatering is provided, comprising a dewatering fabric extending in a machine direction and formed only from a woven material to have a single, substantially consistent, permeability. A pair of laterally-spaced strip portions extend along the dewatering fabric in the machine direction, with each being substantially and consistently impermeable to air and forming a substantially and consistently smooth non-water-retaining surface. The strip portions define a permeable web-carrying portion of the dewatering fabric therebetween, wherein the paper web carried thereby extends over the entire width thereof. The permeable web-carrying portion allows air to flow therethrough, exclusively of the impermeable strip portions, such that the wet paper web carried only by the permeable web-carrying portion is dewatered. The width of the permeable web-carrying portion thereby defines the width of the wet paper web dried thereon. Associated systems and methods are also provided. |

A protective arrangement (37) for a cutting equipment (10) for dividing a continuous fiber web (7) is described, said cutting equipment being arranged in a board or paper machine and includes at least one cutting member (16) for cutting the fiber web (7). In accordance with the invention the protective arrangement includes an endless belt member (20) movably arranged and having a straight run (21) between the cutting equipment and the fiber web to screen off at least an essential part of the cutting equipment from fibers which are released from the fiber web during the cutting. It also includes one or more cleaning members (34, 35) at least one of which being arranged in connection to the outside of the belt member at a distance from the cutting member, to remove the portion of the released fibers being caught by the belt member. The invention also relates to a board or paper machine that has such a protective arrangement. |

The invention relates to a method and apparatus for cutting the edge of a fibre web (4) in a paper machine. In the method, water nozzles (13a, 13b) are Conducted in a transverse direction with respect to the edge of the fibre web (4) so that the place where the cut comes against the surface of the yankee cylinder of the drying unit varies. The apparatus comprises water nozzles (13a, 13b) used for cutting, pipes (14a, 14b), a base (16), and a pneumatic cylinder (17) by which the water nozzles (13a, 13b) are deflected both in a longitudinal and transverse direction with respect to the fibre web (4). |

Paper trim, removed from a freshly made paper web by a slitter, is drawn by a subatmospheric pressure through a duct into a separating tank in which a suction is induced by a fan, the movement of the paper trim being killed by the circulation of pulp into this vessel from a mixing tank to which the slurry is delivered by a pipe from the bottom of the vessel. The pipe terminates in means forming a liquid seal and the solvent for the slurry is sprayed into the vessel to scrub the gas before it reaches the fan. |
