When the clutch assembly 17 is moved to a left side, a different part with spline is engaged with the part with the spline of a pulley 10 and the pulley 10 is rotated accompanying the rotation of the clutch assembly 17. Thus, the driving power is exerted to the close sewing head assembly. Also, when the clutch assembly 17 is positioned at a center position, both of the flat sewing head assembly and the close sewing head assembly are freely operatably engaged. With this constitution, such a inching motion as causing no sliding friction between the sewing machine 5 and a piece of cloth is made achievable by only adding this simple harmonic motion unit 2 to the existing robot 1 without using such a robot as being extremely high in rigidity. In addition, a part for the inching motion merely comes to the sewing machine 5 containing a part of the simple harmonic motion unit 2, so that the extent of power necessary for the simple harmonic motion will get off smallness.
