222 METHOD OF MAKING A WOVEN FABRIC HAVING A DESIRED SPACING BETWEEN TENSION MEMBERS EP15169149.0 2010-05-13 EP2940201A1 2015-11-04 Wesson, John, P; Krishnan, Gopal, R

An exemplary method of making a woven fabric (20A, 20B) includes weaving a plurality of load supporting tension members (22A, 22B) and a plurality of cross fibers (24) together into a woven fabric (20A, 20B). Two woven fabrics (20A, 20B) are positioned next to each other. The two woven fabrics (20A, 20B) include a spacing between adjacent tension members (22A, 22B) having a first dimension. At least one tension member (22A) of one woven fabric (20A) is aligned with and between two of the tension members (22B) of the other woven fabric (20B) to thereby decrease the spacing to a second, smaller dimension.

223 Seamless webbing loop of rock climbing quickdraw, textile machine and textile method EP14162634.1 2014-03-31 EP2889057A3 2015-08-26 Qiu, Chongzhe

The present invention discloses a seamless webbing loop of a rock climbing quickdraw, a textile machine and a textile method. The seamless webbing loop of a rock climbing quickdraw contains a plurality of tubular webbing layers, one surrounded by another, among which there is at least one indication layer. The indication layer is adjacent to the outermost one among the plurality of tubular webbing layers or is the innermost one among the plurality of tubular webbing layers. Such a multilayered structure of the webbing loop enhances the strength of the webbing loop for the quickdraw, but does not cause a seam to the webbing loop. Further, the indication layer contained in the webbing loop functions to remind a user of timely replacement of the webbing loop when the webbing loop is worn, and thus the webbing loop is safe in use. With the movable spindle assembly arranged on the textile machine, it is convenient to remove the webbing loop from the textile machine. In addition, the webbing loop disclosed in the present invention has a simple structure without any seam, and is strong, safe and durable.

234 A WOVEN MATERIAL COMPRISING TAPE-LIKE WARP AN DWEFT, AND AN APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR WEAVING THEREOF EP06700660.1 2006-01-17 EP1838909B1 2011-08-24 KHOKAR, Nandan
Novel woven materials, producible by a new weaving method, are described that comprise single or doubled warps and wefts in the form of tapes that are preferably partially stabilized type of fibrous tape. These fibres are caused to occur in a non-linear arrangement during the weaving process. The non-linear fibres can be subsequently straightened by pulling the tape longitudinally. The doubled warps and wefts comprise disconnected tapes. Such separateness of constituent tapes of doubled warp and weft tapes enables them to be slid/slipped relative to each other by pulling longitudinally and laterally without causing any alteration in the woven structure. These novel fabrics solve the problem of uneven fibre distribution and orientation arising from crumples/wrinkles due to compression and stretches due to extension, at the inner and outer sides respectively, when tape- woven fabrics are curved into shapes. Further, by using doubled warps and wefts fabrics with relatively flat/planar sections and thicker/raised wide rib sections can be also created that resemble a bit like a profiled material in its cross-section. Other fabrics like those comprising slant/oblique weft tapes, shaped warp and weft tapes, formed shape within its body are also producible.

In order to make it possible to weave in a conductive thread, in particular an antenna thread, in a very wide variety of ways in a ribbon needle loom for manufacturing a strip, in particular a label strip, having a shedding apparatus for forming a shed (24) from warp threads (8), a weft insertion needle (26) for inserting weft thread loops, a reed (30) and having a feed apparatus (34) for a thread which has a blade (34) which dips into the shed (24) between warp threads (8) as far as under the insertion path of the weft insertion needle (26), it is proposed that the blade is arranged on a shaft (38) which is oriented transversely with respect to the warp direction. The shaft is connected to a first drive apparatus (40a) for performing a pivoting movement of the shaft. As a result of the pivoting, the blade (34) dips into and out of the shed (24). Furthermore, the shaft is connected to a second drive apparatus (44a) for movement in the axial direction. As a result, the blade (34) can be moved over the width of the strip (2).

Disclosed is a fixture for the reed of a seam weaving machine used for joining two opposite ends of a synthetic fabric by means of a woven seam. The reed is provided with pivotally mounted combs (22) for sliding seam weft threads to the selvage. The fixture comprises an inclined rail (24) and a pressure rail (30) which are disposed at a distance from the bearing mechanism (20) and apply opposite torques to the combs (22), as well as devices (26, 32) for positioning the inclined rail (24) and the pressure rail (30) at angles relative to the bearing mechanism (20) in order to stagger the combs (22) in the position thereof by means of the inclined rail (24) and the pressure rail (30) so as to operate the machine in a first mode of operation. A roll is also provided which can be displaced along a track across the width of the reed in order to successively swivel the combs (22) towards the selvage so as to operate the machine in a second mode of operation. The inclined rail (24) or the pressure rail (30) can be removed from the combs (22) to operate the machine in the second mode of operation. A U-shaped rail (40) can be placed on the front side of the combs (22) in the second mode of operation, the bottom leg (42) of said U-shaped rail (40) impinging the combs (22) below the shaft (20) and the top leg (44) thereof impinging the combs (22) above the shaft (20).
238 METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR WEAVING TAPE-LIKE WARP AND WEFT AND MATERIAL THEREOF EP06700659.3 2006-01-17 EP1838911A1 2007-10-03 KHOKAR, Nandan
A novel method of weaving is described wherein warp and weft are supplied in the form of tapes, and not yarns. The method, which is preferably carried out in vertical format, essentially includes feeding positively flat tensionless warp for shedding and taking-up; selecting, feeding positively and inserting weft tapes of different widths and thickness by gripping in its fore end in flat condition; depositing inserted weft at fabric-fell in a flat condition without beating-up; and taking-up the woven material that comprises either same or different widths of flat wefts. The warps and wefts, preferably of partially stabilized type of fibrous tapes, can be overfed in a tensionless, positive and controlled manner when required to make the fibres of constituent fibrous tapes occur non-linearly in the form of wave/texture during weaving. Extra warps and wefts can be also fed in tandem whereby the warps and wefts become composed of two or more unconnected, mutually slipping, flat tapes in a stacked arrangement. These doubled warp and wefts function effectively as a unit warp and weft during weaving and in the fabric. The method also makes possible to produce other materials such as those with slant weft tapes in relation to warp, having a shape within the body of the fabric and warp and weft tapes of shaped edges. A variety of fibrous and non-fibrous materials are equally well processed.

A geogrid using fiber-reinforced polymeric strips and its producing method are disclosed. The geogrid of a lattice shape includes plural longitudinal fiber-reinforced polymeric strips longitudinally arranged in parallel at regular intervals and formed by reinforcing fiber in a thermoplastic polymer resin, and plural lateral fiber-reinforced polymer strip laterally arranged in parallel at regular intervals and formed by reinforcing fiber in a thermoplastic polymer resin. Each longitudinal fiber-reinforced polymer strip has at lease one first contact point crossed with the lateral fiber-reinforced polymer strip on the upper surface and at least one second contact point crossed with the lateral fiber-reinforced polymer strips on the lower surface. The contact points are fixed by welding the longitudinal and lateral fiber-reinforced polymer strips. The geogrid is excellent in installation capacity, frictional feature and shape stabilisation and shows high tensile strength and low tensile strain and low creep deformation.
