103 Thermoplastic elastomer compositions containing a phase change solvent and selected processing oils US10769344 2004-01-30 US20040220304A1 2004-11-04 Steven Daryl Smith; Mark William Hamersky; Amy Elizabeth Eichstadt
Novel elastomeric compositions which contain at least one thermoplastic elastomer and at least one phase change solvent and at least one processing oil. The presence of particular processing oils, e.g., poly(alphaolefins), provide a means to increase mechanical properties compared to commercially available mineral oils. 105 Novel phase change solvents US10429531 2003-05-05 US20040021130A1 2004-02-05 Steven Daryl Smith; Mark William Hamersky
Phase change solvents for thermoplastic polymers to provide blended compositions. Above the phase change temperature of the solvent, the phase change solvent solubilizes or intimately mixes with the thermoplastic polymer. The phase change behavior of these materials produce blended compositions that exhibit lowered shear viscosity and lowered processing temperature without substantially compromising mechanical properties of the thermoplastic polymer. The present invention also relates to a method of improving the processability of a thermoplastic polymer using the phase change solvent.
