PURPOSE: To obtain stainless steel enamel having superior adhesion to the base stainless steel without requiring any special pretreatment by carrying out baking in a reducing atmosphere when stainless steel is enameled. CONSTITUTION: When stainless steel is enameled, baking is carried out in a reducing atmosphere. Glaze prepd. by conventional blending and milling is coated on the degreased surface of stainless steel, dried and baked at a pre scribed temp. At this time, satisfactory adhesion is attained by carrying out the baking in a reducing atmosphere. PURPOSE: To coat glass which is difficult to exfoliate despite receiving of heat cycles on the surface of a metallic object without cracks and pinholes by coating a liquid org. silicon compd. on said surface and heating the same in an atmosphere contg. an alkali metal compd. CONSTITUTION: A liquid org. silicon compd. such as silicon ethoxide is coated on the surface of a metallic object such as pipe cooler. This is heated to about ≥800°C in an atmosphere of a glass melting furnace or the like contg. an alkali metallic compd. such as Na 2O. By this method, the cracks and pinholes of an SiO 2 film formed by the decomposition of org. silicon compd. are sealed. The surface layer part of the glass lining layer obtd. by this method is a dense glass layer contg. a large amt. of alkali metal and the surface layer part of the metallic object is a porous SiO 2 layer of less alkali metal, thereby isolating the metal and corrosive atmospheres perfectly. PURPOSE: To colcine a substrate having no scrape, scar or deformation by applying enamel flit and slip mixed with a smaller quantity of refractory powder which doesn't melt with flit on a metal substrate surface, and placing an applied surface on a specific calcination table. CONSTITUTION: After a normal steel plate 7 for enameling is preliminary treated, a certain amt. of slip obtd. by mixing 100pts.wt. enamel frit with ≤100W10pt.wt. refractory powder which is incompatible with said frit in the molten state, is applied to the surface of said steel plate 7 to be faced toward the calcination table during calcination, using a spray gun etc. and the coated product is dried. This coated surface is placed on a planar member 4 composed of a refractory material not melting with said enamel frit or on a metalic flat plate 6 having a refractroy layer 5 not melting with said enamel frit and the member 4 or the flat plate 6 is supported by a supporting part of the calcination table 2 and placed into a calcination furnace together with the calcination table to calcine the uncalcined enamel substrate 1. PURPOSE: To manufacture glass-lined material having very high corrosion resistance, by heating a frit coating layer from metal side of the material toward surface layer side. CONSTITUTION: Muddy frit is applied to the inner and outer peripheral surface of a long sized pipe, and is preheated by a high frequency induction heating means to a temp. not higher than the melting temp. of the frit, and is then quickly heated to a temp. not lower than the melting temp. in order to calcine it. Hereby the frit layer is heated from the material side toward surface layer, so that the formation of pinholes and bubbles is prevented. For example, a frit coating layer 2 is formed on the inner and outer peripheral surfaces of the material metal 1. A pipe 3 is hung under a high frequency induction coil 4, having such an inner diameter that its inner surface makes a prescribed space with the outer surface of the pipe 3, and in such a position that the axial line of the heating coil 4 agrees with that of the pipe 3. An electric power supply E is put to work, and the pipe 3 is pulled up in the direction of (a) at a prescribed speed and is preheated by the coil 4a and is heated regularly by a coil 4b.
