CONSTITUTION: A stationary duct 4 is installed on the ground side in parallel with the traveling direction of a coke oven machine, and provided with connecting ports 5 at positions corresponding to the respective subovens of the coke oven so as to make them contact with the connector mobile part 11 of the coke oven machine, each of the connecting ports 5 is furnished with a duct cover 7 revolvable by a hinge mechanism 6; when the connector mobile part 11 is advanced and comes into contact the connecting port 5, the duct cover 7 is opened by a relevant push rod set up on the connector mobile part to effect allowing a dust-collecting hood 8 to communicate with the stationary duct 4; and when the push rod is retreated, the duct cover 7 is closed by its own weight. In this system mentioned above, the closing initial position for each of the duct covers 7 differing in closing position for each of the subovens is detected by a relevant detector A and stored in advance, and duct cover closure is confirmed by detecting whether the duct cover has returned to the initial position or not after finishing dust collecting work. PURPOSE: To provide a method and apparatus which enable automatic recognition of the posture of a coke oven door from the side of a moving machine of a coke oven instead of the conventional manned judgement and also enable automatic attaching and detaching of the door. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus and method are based on the measurement of deviation of a door 21 of a coke oven in the directions of X, Y, and Z axes using a range finder such as an optical range finder 2 and a turning-angle detection section. The apparatus comprises the range finder 2 for measuring the distance between the door 21 and the point to be detected, a turning mechanism 4 capable of turning the finder 2 relatively to the door 21, the turning-angle detection section combined with the turning mechanism, and a computing unit 5 which computes and judges values of the detected posture of the door 21 based on a detected turning angle and a detected distance. The result of computing at the unit 5 is regarded as the deviation from the standard posture, and thus the posture of the door 21 distorted in the front-rear, right-left, and diagonal directions relative to the oven is recognized.
