A method of reusing a notebook provides a notebook having a synthetic- paper page. The method also provides a thermochromic ink pen which, when used to write on the synthetic paper page, leaves thermochromic ink markings. The method further provides a moisture carrier configured to have a liquid diffused therein. The moisture carrier is configured to erase the thermochromic ink markings from the synthetic-paper page by contacting the thermochromic ink markings when the moisture carrier is moist. The method then writes with thermochromic ink on at least a portion of the synthetic-paper page. Liquid is diffused in the moisture carrier, and the portion of the synthetic-paper page having the thermochromic ink is wiped with the moist moisture carrier, such that the thermochromic ink is erased from the synthetic-paper page. |

A seal carving apparatus (10) includes a thermal head (12) having a plurality of heat generating elements (12a) disposed in lines, and thermal drive control means (24) that performs a control process of selectively and thermally driving the individual heat generating elements while moving the thermal head and a porous material in relative to each other with the thermal head (12) being in abutment with the porous material, thereby forming a seal face on the porous material. The thermal drive control means (24) controls a pulse time width for thermally driving the individual heat generating elements (12a) of the thermal head under PWM control based on gradation image data having a gradation value, thereby forming a seal with a gradation on the porous material. |

Dot pattern perforations (43) predetermined according to a type (kind and carving size) of a workpiece are formed in a part of a body of an attachment (40, 50, 60, 70, 80) where the workpiece is to be set. A seal carving apparatus (100) detects the dot pattern of the mounted attachment by means of photosensors (18S, 18D) to identify the type of the workpiece. This makes it possible to check consistency between type information on the workpiece input by a customer and type information identified from the dot pattern to prevent mismounting of the attachment or an erroneous carving operation. |

The invention relates to data carriers with an optically variable structure. Data carrier comprises a coating made in the form of a printed screen, and a three-dimensional screen. The three-dimensional screen is at least partially arranged on the coating. The width of lines and distance between lines of the printed and three-dimensional screens and the mutual orientation of the screens are selected to create a moiré image; when the carrier is viewed at a direct angle to the surface the coating is fully discernible, while the moiré image is concealed. When the carrier is viewed at an acute angle the part of the coating that is disposed on the three-dimensional screen surfaces arranged parallel to the viewing direction or occluded from the viewer by elements of the three-dimensional screen is unrecognizable. In this case, the part of the coating that is disposed on the three-dimensional screen surfaces facing the viewer and not occluded from the viewer by elements of the three-dimensional screen is recognizable, whereby the moiré image becomes visible. Border between two colors of the printed screen is arranged mostly on inclined areas of the three-dimensional screen. When the inclination angle of the carrier is changed, the borders of color stripes on the carrier appear to move. | ||||||

A covercoated transfer sheet (550) for transferring images to a ceramic substrate. The covercoated transfer sheet (550) contains a flat, flexible substrate (510) and a transferable covercoat (242) releaseably bound to the flat, flexible substrate (510). When the transferable covercoat (242) is printed with an image to form an imaged covercoat, the image has a higher adhesion to the covercoat than the covercoat has to the flexible substrate (510). The imaged covercoat has an elongation to break of at least about 0.1 percent, and it can be separated from the flexible substrate with a peel force of less than about 200 grams per centimeter. |
