[Class 83 (i)] In a moulding-machine pins 8, for lifting the mould 12 from the pattern 11, are locked to a plate 7 carried by the lifting cylinder 5 directly a valve 16 is opened to air pressure supply 14 to cause said cylinder to rise. The air is supplied to the cylinder by a flexible pipe 39 and by a pipe 15 to a valve 24, Fig. 2, constantly urged up by air pressure supplied by a pipe 38 but held down, when the cylinder 5 is in its lowest position, by a lug 20. In this position of the valve 24 the pins 8 are free to adjust themselves to the mould box until the valve 16 is opened, then air passes via the pipe 15, valve 24 and flexible pipes 22, 21 to a vibrator 23 and the devices 13 which lock the pins. As the cylinder 5 rises the valve 24 moves into the position shown in Fig. 3 and the vibrator supply 22 is cut off but the devices 13 are still supplied from the pipe 38. The cylinder 5 and the parts carried thereby are arrested in the position shown in Fig. 1 by a stop 19. After the drawn mould 12 has been removed the valve 16 is turned to exhaust and the cylinder 5 falls to its lowest position ready for making another mould by using the adjustable press plate 3 &c. In a modification the valve 24 is replaced by a rotary one, the spindle of which carries gear teeth which are engaged by a short rack carried by the cylinder 5 when this approaches its lowest position. |
