专利汇可以提供Surface effect vehicles and guideways therefor专利检索,专利查询,专利分析的服务。并且A ground effect vehicle of the type supported by a cushion of gas and especially adapted for use within specially constructed roadways providing guidance along a plurality of axes. The application describes vehicles having skirts with lower margins adapted to conform to the cross sections of the roadways, with the roadways preferably being of arcuate cross section whereby sustenance of the vehicle is accomplished by maintaining an air cushion between the skirt and the bottom portion of the roadway, and whereby turning of the vehicle is accomplished by the banking of the vehicle in combination with the reaction to a curvilinear roadway sidewall, or in response to thrust having a lateral vector, or both. The disclosure is directed to the construction and operation of such roadways, including roadways which are partially or completely circular in cross section to roadways especially designed to permit vertical and traversing travel in respect to hills and controlled travel in respect to descent along the straight line or a traverse line. Other roadway constructions which are adapted to make partial use of existing rights-of-way are also described as are preferred traffic pattern layouts, etc.,下面是Surface effect vehicles and guideways therefor专利的具体信息内容。

1. A combination road and guideway system for air cushion vehicles, said system comprising a roadway having a substantial longitudinal extent and comprising at least one individual track forming portion which includes a vehicle supporting surface portion, at least one lateral guiding surface portion, and a transition surface portion joining said supporting and guiding surfaces to form a composite track surface of generally curvilinear configuration in front elevation, which track surface forms a combination guideway and reactant surface for said air cushion vehicles whereby a vehicle having a bottom surface substantially the entire portion of which has a contour generally complementary to said track cross section, disposed in said track and sustained on an air cushion will be free to move within said track and will tend to position itself within said track in response to applied forces including sustaining forces applied to said track by said vehicle and in response to gravitational, acceleration, and extrinsic control forces acting upon said vehicle.
2. A system as defined in claim 1 wherein at least two individual track forming portions are provided, said track portions being laterally spaced apart from each other and each including portions free from guiding surfaces between said individual track portions, whereby a vehicle, upon application of a laterally directed force, may move across said guide-free area to accomplish movement from one of said individual track portions to another of said individual track portions.
3. A system as defined in claim 1 wherein said track portions are arranged in the form of a principal section and at least one secondary section associated therewith, said secondary section being in the form of at least one complete track loop intended for lower speed use and joined to said track portion along at least one guide-free area permitting vehicles to move so as to be tangent laterally between said principal track portion and the entrance to said secondary loop portion.
4. A system as defined in claim 1, said system being arranged so as to provide at least one principal track portion and secondary and tertiary track portions, said secondary track portion comprising at least one loop having a portion lying tangent to said primary portion and arranged so as to permit entry thereto and exit therefrom at said point of tangency, and at least one tertiary loop of reduced size in relation to said secondary loop, said tertiary loop having a portion lying tangent to said secondary loop to permit entry thereto and exit therefrom.
5. A system as defined in claim 1, in which each individual track forming portion further includes a top surface portion, said supporting, guiding, top, and transition surface portions thereby defining an enclosed tube of substantially circular vertical cross section.
6. A system as defined in claim 1, in which each individual track forming portion includes an open track forming portion and a generally tubular, closed track forming portion, said open track forming portion lying upon one portion of the earth''s surface, said generally tubular track forming portion extending beneath a portion of the earth''s surface and also having at least one span extending unsupported above the earth''s surface between adjacent terrain features.
7. An improved track for supporting and guiding air cushion vehicles, said track comprising first and second track elements, all of said track elements being generally curvilinear in vertical cross section and including lower vehicle support portions and at least one laterAlly positioned vehicle guide portion, said vehicle support portions each constituting a guideway free of mechanical connection with said vehicle when said vehicle is positioned for travel in said guideway, said first element comprising a generally level road section having at most a very slight inclination from level, said second element comprising a relatively steeply angled step portion connecting adjacently disposed ends of said generally level sections to each other, whereby said track has given overall average grade, and whereby substantially all of the elevational change in said track occurs at said connecting step portions of said track, and whereby a vehicle operated in said track will undergo significant vertical movement only in the vicinity of said step portions and not along the major portion of said track.
8. An improved guideway for air cushion vehicles, said guideway comprising a central vehicle support portion having associated therewith means for receiving in supporting relation vehicles especially adapted for use therewith, and further including lateral air cushion vehicle guide surfaces lying to either side of and extending upwardly and outwardly from said receiving and supporting means along a generally arcuate path, whereby said guideway may receive and support both air cushion vehicles which are free of mechanical connection therewith and said vehicles which are especially adapted to be supported thereon.
9. An improved guideway for air cushion vehicles as defined in claim 8 which further includes spaced apart means in said lateral guide surfaces for permitting a portion of said guide surfaces to be repositioned or removed to permit crossing of said guideway by other vehicles.
