CONSTITUTION: In the state where an electric insulator 4a is brought into contact with liquid nitrogen, and an electric insulator 4b is brought into contact with an object to be cooled, a specified current is made to flow through a series circuit composed of heat dissipating side electrodes 1a, 1b, 1c,..., heat absorbing side electrodes 2a, 2b, 2c,..., and superconductors 3a, 3b. Then the superconductors 3a, 3b are cooled via the heat dissipating side electrodes 1a, 1b, 1c,..., and the temperature becomes equal to or lower than the critical temperature. Therefore Joule's heat does nob generate in the superconductors 3a, 3b and their thermal conductivity is small, so that the heat traveling from the heat dissipating electrodes 1a, 1b, 1c... to the heat absorbing electrodes 2a, 2b, 2c is little. As a result, the temperature of heat absorbing side electrodes 2a, 2b, 2c is decreased to a value very lower than the liquid nitrogen temperature. Thereby an object to be cooled can be cooled at a temperature very lower than that of liquid nitrogen.
