CONSTITUTION: The objective coke is obtained by compounding (A) coal crushed to attain a particle size distribution wherein the fraction having a particle size of ≤0.25mm is ≥80wt%, or a mixture of said coal and a carbonaceous material, with (B) a bitumen, and carbonizing the composition. It is preferable to carry out the carbonization by kneading the coal mixture containing the bitumen and converting a part of the coal mixture to pseudo-granules. As an alternative process, it is preferable to make a part of the coal mixture containing the bitumen to briquettes by compression forming, mixing the briquettes with the residual coal mixture with or without disintegrating the briquette, and carbonizing the mixture.
