CONSTITUTION: Igniting coal layer 2 consisting of an exceedingly ignitable coal is integrally laid over the entire surface of briquette body 1 primarily composed of a common coal material such as anthracite, to obtain a dual layer-type ignition briquette. The upper surface of the briquette body 1 is entirely shaped into a concave, flat or convex form, over which the ingiting coal layer 2 is closely laid. In the case of a concave form, the layer 2 is easily integrated, and in the case of the convex fom, flame is advantageously transferred easily and quickly to the periphery of the briquette body 1 because the igniting coal layer 2 becomes thicker toward the periphery. Flame is more easily and quickly transferred to the briquette body 1 by providing a portion above the upper surface of the briquette body 1 or below the lower surface of the igniting coal layer 2 with a clearance.
