CONSTITUTION: Before pull-in of an objective lens, a driving input terminal 15 is connected to an opening terminal 16, and driving force is '0'. At the time of pulling-in, said terminal is connected to a terminal 17, a difference between the differential value of a detecting output of a detector 7 by a differentiator 10, and a prescribed value 18 passes through a limiter 11 and applied to an optical head 9, and pulling-in of the objective lens is executed. The limiter 11 is provided in order to control the riving force and to prevent an unnecessary acceleration. After pulling-in is started, when a detecting output 14 becomes a '0' level three times, the terminal 15 is switched to a controller 8 through a terminal 19, and a usual automatic focusing control is executed thereby. In such a way, focusing is stabilized and the settling time can be shortened.
