CONSTITUTION: A grid 22 where transparent parts and opaque parts are formed alternately in the scanning direction is formed on the rear face of a dichroic mirror 16, and a light detecting means 28 consisting of a long-sized columnar optical guide 26 made of an acrylic resin and a photomultiplier 24 arranged in the end part of this guide 26 is arranged at the rear of the grid 22. Consequently, a projected luminous flux is made incident on the grid 22 in the out-of- focus state. A fundamental pulse outputted from the photomultiplier 24 is inputted to a multiplying circuit 32 through a high frequency amplifier 30. The multiplying circuit 32 consists of a slicer and PLL circuit 34 and a clock generator 36 and multiplies the inputted fundamental pulse to generate the synchronizing signal and outputs this signal to a control circuit 38. The control circuit 38 modulates the luminous flux reaching a film 20 on a basis of a prescribed picture signal and the synchronizing signal.
