The image pickup signal from the image pickup tube 6 is fed to the 1st and 2nd compression circuits 7, 8. The 1st and 2nd compression circuits 7, 8 are controlled by a control means 9 controlling the compression characteristic of them depending on the zoom state of the zoom lens means 1. Outputs of the compression circuits 7, 8 are selected by a changeover switch 10, the result is fed to a limiter 11 and the selected output is fed to an output terminal 12.
