CONSTITUTION: A back electrode 2 is built on a substrate of glass or the like, and a metal phthalocyanine deposited film 3 provided with no planar molecular structure is formed thereon as an organic optical active layer. An electrode layer of the same metal with the back electrode 2 is formed to serve as a light transmission surface electrode 4. On the other hand, the back electrode 2 and the light transmission front electrode 4 are formed of metal which comes into ohmic contact with the metal phthalocyanine deposited film 3. An organic photodetector constituted as above can be offered for a practical use by connecting a lead to the back electrode 2 and the light transmission surface electrode 4 to connect it with an external circuit.
