Incidentally, the sampling number of the image is (60×80). A microcomputer 4 stored those digital signals in the memory of a DMA and arranges the image data. A host computer 5 uses Fortran languages to extract the nuclei skelton from the image data and to integrates is so that the open angle is then calculated. The angle is then compared with the angle of the boundary between the neutro-annular nuclei and the metamyelocyte to judge what species the white blood corpuscle belongs to. The results are then fed to an output device 6.
