CONSTITUTION: A sample 1 is produced by a photosensitized oxidation of amino acid and placed into a Petri dish 2. A chemical luminescence detector 3 detects a transition substance of amino peroxide excited or a very weak chemical luminescence generated from a luminescence reagent excited with a photomultiplier tube 3b and amplified with a pre-amplifier 3c to count the number of photons with a counter 5. Counts thus obtained are processed properly with a microcomputer 6 and the results are displayed on a monitor 7. In this case, when the sample 1 is separated into various amino acids with a chromatography beforehand, photocounts are displayed on the monitor 7 in terms of type of amino acid thereby enabling a quantitative analysis.
