CONSTITUTION: The cross section of yokes 7a and 7b comprising a soft magnetic material are formed in an L shape. A center shield 8 comprising high- conductivity non-magnetic material is arranged between the yokes 7a and 7b. The skin effect is utilized, and the magnetic fields are pushed to the outside. The magnetic paths in two systems are completely separated. Magnetic layers 2a and 2b which are formed of a high-permeability soft magnetic material are fixed to the outer surface of a receiving shaft 1. Detecting coils 3a and 3b are arranged around the outer surfaces of the magnetic layers 2a and 2b. In this way, the outer surfaces of the detecting coils 3a and 3b are surrounded in a U shape by the yokes 7a and 7b and the center shield 8. The expansion of the magnetic fluxes generated from the coils 3a and 3b in the axial direction is restricted. The magnetic fluxes are concentrated in the magnetic layers 2a and 2b and circulated. Thus, the leakage of the magnetic flux can be prevented.
