In this case, if no data is written in a page of actual storage unit 5, no flag is set in memory 3 and absence of a reference page is detected to generate a dummy instruction signal through controller 4. This signal serves as an interruption instruction and CPU1 leaves the content of a counter as it is and performs an interruption process for paging-in from external memroy unit 8 to unit 5. Therefore, pseudo virtual storage equivalent to a virtual storage system can be done by using normal CPU.
