CONSTITUTION: When the right bank is driven while both the left and right banks are at standstill, the driven input shaft 4 will turn No.1 rotary member 31 of a synchronous meshing joint 13 and also an intermediate member 32 with the aid of a helical spline 33. The intermediate member 32 turns a synchronous ring 35 in the direction of Arrow B through an auxiliary spline 36 to allow a pawl 39 to be detained by a groove provided in a ratchet 38. Turning this ratchet 38 in this condition will generate a thrust force at the splines 33, 36 to shift the intermediate member 32 in the direction of Arrow C. Thereby the main clutch tooth 34 is automatically meshed with the main clutch tooth 40 of No.2 rotary member 37. Completion of the coupling process will raise the rotation of the right bank according to the shift amount sensed signal of the intermediate member 32. Change-over to the left bank can be carried out likewise.
