CONSTITUTION: A high and a low rotation cam 1, 2 are fixed at a small spacing to a cam shaft 3, which is provided with a groove 4 designed to insert one end of an actuator plate 5, and around the fulcrum 8 are installed this actuator plate 5, an oil-hydraulic cylinder 6 and a return spring 7. A spline 9 is installed in such an arragenment that the shaft 3 can be slided axially while the timing gear 10 is at a standstill, and the edges 12, 13 are rounded so that cams 1, 2 can easily move to push a valve 11. When the number of revolutions exceeds a certain specified value the oil 14 and cylinder 6 with work the actuator plate 5 to slide the shaft 3 in the direction of the arrow and to allow the cam 2 to push the valve 11, and the consequent drop of revolutions will bring about drop of pressure and thereby cauze switching into the cam 1. Accordingly, the rate of fuel consumption can be enhanced and the torque strengthened by selecting the cam to be used in accordance with the number of revolutions.
