CONSTITUTION: A spindle head 3 is slightly moved forward to cut the end face of a pipe P with a fixed cutter 12. Then, a motor 13 is inched to turn a screw rod 16 in a direction as shown by an arrow Q thereby slidably moving a sliding key 20 engaged with the screw rod 16 by means of threads in a direction as shown by an arrow R. The movement of the sliding key 20 causes a tool holder 17 to slide and to protrude in a direction as shown by an arrow S so that a cutter 23 fixed to the tool holder 17 cuts into the end of the pipe P. When the chips produced by the cutter 23 become substantially the same with those produced by the fixed cutter 12, the inching motion of the motor 13 is interrupted and the spindle head 3 is advanced so that the cutters 12 and 13 simultaneously cut into the pipe end, thus attaining pipe end cutting process without accompanying the vibration of the pipe.
