CONSTITUTION: The fungicide contains a benzoic ester of formula I (R is 5W15C saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon; Q is halogen, lower alkyl, hydroxy; (n) is 0W2) such as geranyl 2-chlorobenzoate of formula II as an effective component. The compound is obtained by the reaction of an alkali metal salt of formula III (M is alkali metal) with an alcohol halide of RX (X is halogen). When it is used as a dust, granules, tablets or oil preparation, the adequate concentation is about 0.1W10% as the active component and, when as an emulsion or wettable dust, 10 W90%. They also are effective on field crops, fruit trees, plants for horticulture, nursery trees for forestry, timber, etc.
