说明书全文

The present invention relates to a roll-up awning of the type whereby between an awning case with awning cloth and a first front profile, at least two folding arms are attached which attempt to push away this first front profile from the awning case, and whereby a second front profile is provided which is connected to the first front profile by means which can push these front profiles away from each other, and whereby the free extremity of the awning cloth is connected to the second front profile and extends beyond the first front profile.

Such roll-up awning has the advantage that it offers a very good protection against the light of a low sun, without, however, enlarging the width of the awning.

With a first known roll-up awning, said means consist of folding arms connected to the two front profiles.

Disadvantages of such folding arms are that they take up a lot of space, as a result of which, amongst others, the awning case becomes relatively large, on one hand, and that such construction is relatively complicated and expensive, on the other hand.

With another known roll-up awning, said means consist of springs, more particularly pneumatic springs, which are provided directly between said first and second front profiles.

Although the means, more particularly springs, with this second kind of roll-up awning only take up little space and are of a very simple construction, they show the disadvantage that the stability thereof, for example, with gusts of wind, is rather mediocre.

Thus, the present invention relates to such aforementioned means which are very simple in their construction; which are very inexpensive; and which only take up a small space; all that combined with a high stability and a very high operational reliability.

To this end, the means according to the invention substantially consist in that between the first and the second front profile, at least one hingeable cross connection is provided, of which at least one leg is connected to a spring drawing the cross connection towards the open position.

With the intention of better showing the characteristics of the invention, hereafter, without any limitative character, a preferred form of embodiment of a roll-up awning according to the invention is described, with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein:

  • Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a roll-up awning according to the invention, in its most simple form and schematically shown;
  • figure 2 represents a view according to arrow F2 in figure 1;
  • figures 3 and 4 represent views similar to that of figure 1, however, for embodiment variants.

In figures 1 and 2, a roll-up awning 1 according to the invention is represented schematically in its most simple form.

This awning substantially is formed by an awning case 2 which can be mounted against a wall or such, whereby the awning cloth 3 can be rolled up in this awning case 2.

In this case, two folding arms 4 and 5, respectively, are connected to the awning case 2 in a hingeable manner, whereby these folding arms 4 and 5, at their other free extremity, are hingeably connected to a first front profile 6.

With the folding arms 4-5, not-represented springs cooperate in a known manner, which springs continuously attempt to push the first front profile 6 away from the awning case 2, in order to keep the awning cloth 3 thus stretched at a suitable inclination.

The awning cloth 3, which is freely provided over the first front profile 6, is connected with its free extremity to a second front profile 7 in a suitable manner.

According to the present invention, a hingeable cross connection 8 is provided between the front profiles 6-7, the legs 9 and 10 of which are hingeably connected to each other by means of a pivot 11, and whereby these legs 9-10, at one extremity, by means of pivots 12 and 13, are hingeably connected to the front profiles 6 and 7.

The other extremities of the legs 9 and 10 of the hingeable cross connection 8 are provided in grooves 16 and 17, respectively, for example by means of pivots 14-15, which grooves to this end are provided in said front profiles 6-7.

In this figure 1, between the legs 9 and 10 of the hingeably moving cross connection 8, a spring 18 is provided which continuously attempts to move said cross connection towards its open position, attempts to keep it in this open position, respectively, by forcing the front profiles 6 and 7 away from each other.

Of course, such spring 18 also can be provided between a leg 9 or 10 and the second front profile 7 or the first front profile 6, respectively, or between one of the pivots 14-15 and one of the pivots 12-13 and/or a front profile 6 or 7.

In a preferred form of embodiment, such spring 18 preferably shall be provided between the pivots 12 and 14 and can this spring as such be provided in the front profile 6, for example, when this latter is formed by a hollow profile, such as a tube.

Of course, also two springs 18 can be provided, for example, one in the front profile 6, between the pivots 12 and 14, and a second spring 18 in the front profile 7 between the pivots 13 and 15.

It is clear that the cross connections 8 are provided at a well-defined angle A in respect to the folding arms 4 and 5 in order to obtain, after unfolding, a portion 19 directed downward in an inclined manner.

If desired, of course an adjustment mechanism can be provided between the front profile 6 and the cross connection(s) 8 which allows to adjust the angle A.

The functioning of an awning, as described by means of figures 1 and 2, is very simple and as follows.

In closed position, the front profile 7 is situated in or against the awning case 2, as a result of which preferably the awning case 2 also is closed off.

When the awning cloth 3 is rolled off, the folding arms 4 and 5 will provide for that the front profiles 6 and 7 are pushed out of the awning case 2, whereby automatically, under the effect of the spring or springs 18, the hingeably moving cross connection 8 is drawn open and the front profile 7, together with the awning cloth 3, will move away from front profile 6.

Vice versa, when the awning cloth 3 is rolled up, first the front profile 7 will be drawn towards the front profile 6, after which the folding arms 4 and 5 are folded together.

In figure 3, a form of embodiment is represented whereby two hingeably moving cross connections 8 are provided and whereby in this case, a spring 18 is provided at least between the pivots 14 and possibly between the pivots 15.

In figure 4, also a form of embodiment is represented whereby two hingeably moving cross connections are applied and whereby springs 18 are provided between the arms 10 and the front profile 6 or between the pivots 14 and possibly 15 and the corresponding pivots 12, 13, respectively.

It is obvious that the functioning of the forms of embodiment according to figures 3 and 4 is identical to those according to figure 1, however, that a higher stability will be obtained between the front profiles 6 and 7.

In this manner, an awning with a curtain part 19 is obtained which is very simple and therefore very reliable in its operation.

The present invention, however, is not limited to the form of embodiment described as an example and represented in the accompanying drawings, on the contrary, a roll-up awning of the aforementioned type may be realized in a variety of forms and dimensions, without leaving the scope of the invention.
