CONSTITUTION: A coloring material for Japanese painting is dispersed in an aq. soln. contg. glue and/or gelatin. The resulting dispersion is dried at a low temp. to obtain paint for Japanese painting in the form of fine powder. Examples of the coloring material are natural and synthetic rock paints such as ultramarine, white rock, verdigvis, vermilion, cinnabar, red lead, loess, orpiment, melilite, etc., and also cochineal; gamboge, etc. An aq. soln. of glue or gelatin can be prepd. by swelling glue or gelatin with cold water overnight. Pref. the concn. is generally about 5W15wt%. Works such as paintings made using said paint have good adhesion and the coating film of the paint has excellent performance.
