In the meantime, electric current is supplied from the power source 23 to the thin steel wire and the melting cutter rolls 5a, 5b; hereby, the very thin part of the constricted part 21 is molten and cut depending on the joule heat due to the electric current, and then, the short-sized steel wire 8 with the spherical cut-end is formed; the steel wire 8 is cooled by the cooling air being ejected from nozzles 22a, 22b, according to this method, the steel fiber material for use of reinforcing the concrete, etc., is manufactured.
