CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution containing a foaming component such as a culture solution is stored in a tank 1, and e.g. sterile air is aerated through a sparger 2 into the aqueous solution. A netty assembly 3 made of hydrophilic capillary material such as cotton is situated above the level in the tank. The capillary assembly 3 makes a suction of a liquid made up of the froth from the froth layer Lh of bubbles H to effect foam collapse. The liquid made up of the froth put into the capillary assembly 3 reaches a titling section 3b via a horizontal section 3a, being discharged toward a supporting member 4, and returned via a port 5 into the tank. The gas released from the froth by foam collapse reaches, through a gap 3c a vapor phase section 6, and is discharged out of the tank.
