CONSTITUTION: This composition is obtained by formulating (a) a cupric ion source (pref. copper sulfate, cupric hydroxide, copper oxychloride, cupric oxide; esp. copper sulfate, cupric hydroxide) with (b) at least one kind of cyclodextrin suitable for forming a complex with the cupric ion (pref. β-cyclodextrin or a derivative therefrom such as hydroxyalkylated one) in the weight ratio (b)/Cu
2+ of (0.1:1) to (10:1), pref. (0.2:1) to (5:1). This composition is improved in germicidal activity of Cu
2+ , esp. its sustainability, and reduced in toxicity to target plant(s) and the environment through diminishing Cu
2+ dose and/or its application frequency, and esp. useful for protecting plants such as grape trees from cryptogamic diseases such as Plasmopara viticola or downy mildew.
