USE: A herbicide, having high selectivity and a remarkably large width period suitable for treatment as compared with that of the conventional herbicides, and applicable very safely to directly sowed paddy rice under flooded conditions.
PREPARATION: An N-halomethyl-chloroacetanilide expressed by formula II (A is halogen) is reacted with an alcohol expressed by formula III in the presence of a hydrogen halide capturing agent to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I .
