CONSTITUTION: A medicine consisting of a cholesteric derivative expressed by the formula (R is OH or =O) known as an in vivo cholesteric catabolite as an active consistuent. The compound expressed by the formula is the same substance as the active center of an in vivo immunosuppressive substance known as IRA, and has the anti-inflammatory action as well as the immunosuppressive action. The compound can be readily prepared readily and at a low cost by oxidizing cholesterol without extracting and purifying the IRA from a serum. The medicine is used as a dosage form of an injection, oral or external pharmaceutical.
