The oil film thickness/roll speed function generator 3 selects the theoretical oil film thickness (t) corresponding to the roll's circumferential speed V, and sends it to the comparison operator 4; the hysteresis correction function generator 6 operates the deviation DELTAt from the reference theoretical oil film thickness (t) corresponding to the roll speed at accelerating or decelerating the roll speed. This signal DELTAt is sent to the comparison operator 4 which compares (t) with DELTAt; at accelerating the roll speed, the signal t+DELTAt, and at decelerating the roll peed, the signal t-DELTAt, are sent to the multiplier 2, and are multiplied by the factor K to be decided correspondingly to the rolling load P; hereby, the corrected oil film thickness is decided.
