An adiabatic process for making mononitrobenzene by the nitration of benzene which minimizes the formation of nitrophenols and dinitrobenzene by-products. The process uses a mixed acid having less than 3 wt% nitric acid, 55 to 80 wt% sulfuric acid, and water. The initial temperature of the mixed acid is in the range of 60 to 96°C. The nitration reaction is complete in about 300 seconds and produces less than 1,200 ppm nitrophenols and less than about 80 ppm dinitrobenzene. The reaction can be carried out in a plug-flow or a stirred pot reactor, or a combination of such reactors. | ||||||

The present invention relates to a method for making an improved thermal insulation characteristic wadding, particularly designed for making cloth, furniture and the like articles, which comprises the step of preparing, by means of carding machines, a lap consisting of a mixture of polyester or other nature fibres, which have been possibly siliconized, and subjecting this lap to a subsequent resin treating step, on at least a face thereof, by using cross-linked glues. The resin treated lap is then calendered, under controlled temperature and pressure conditions, so as to obtain, on its surface, a soft and resilient film and, inside it, an air chamber so as to provide a low thermal exchange coefficient and, accordingly, a proper temperature controlling of the body temperature. |

A system for determining a leak rate of a device during an adiabatic cooling phase is provided. The system includes a leak rate training system receiving leak rate calibration data, such as pressure data or mass flow data for a device having a known leakage rate. The leak rate training system generates an adiabatic cooling model from the leak rate calibration data, such as by solving a finite difference equation for one or more unknown process variables that are dependent on the adiabatic cooling parameters of the device. The system further includes a leak rate detection system receiving the adiabatic cooling model and leak rate data and determining a leak rate component of the leak rate data using the adiabatic cooling model, such as by using the variable values determined through solving the finite difference model to interpolate between the leak rate calibration data that was gathered using known leakage rates. |
