摘要	NEW MATERIAL: A compd. represented by formula I which has 3 or less groups having less than 6 carbon atoms per rhenium atom and has at least one H atom bonded to the carbon atom at the α-position provided methylrhenium trioxide CH 3 ReO 3 , (CH 3 ) 6 Re 2 O 3 , the tetraoxide (CH 3 ) 4 Re 2 O 4 , and pentamethylcyclopentadienylrhenium trioxide (formula II) are excluded. USE: A compd. represented by formula I and carried by an oxide carrier substance is used as a catalyst for the metathesis of an olefinic compd. PROCESS: The compd. is prepd. from Re 2 O 7 by using an ordinary alkylating agent, e.g. by reacting dirhenium heptaoxide with a soln. represented by formula III at 0-60°C in a solvent inert to a rhenium compd. and removing volatile components from the resultant product.
