PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a comfortable mattress for underlying an infant. SOLUTION: The infant mattress is made of three layers of a foam material; an inner layer (10) comprised of an open or closed cell foam material, preferably urethane, and two outer layers (12) that sandwich the inner layer therebetween, comprised of a visco-elastic foam material, preferably urethane. An outer cover (22) surrounds all three layers and is cleanable and anti-microbial. The inner layer is of a less resilient, or stiffer material than the outer layers and are slow to spring back upon being indented by the weight of the infant to evenly distribute the weight of the infant. The outer and inner foam layers are preferably secured together by a mechanical retaining means, for instance, a stripe of adhesive located only around the perimeter of the foam layers. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To providing a good body pressure dispersion performance and improve sleeping comfortableness by forming a mattress entirely from urethane foam, standing many projections on a substrate, constituting the projections in two layers, and forming a layer of the upper side from low impact polyurethane. SOLUTION: In a mattress for a bed formed entirely from a foam resin such as polyurethane foam, a substrate 12 of the mattress and the lower sides 17 of many projections 14a-14d stood on the substrate 12 are formed from polyurethane foam having relatively high impact resilience, and the upper sides 18 of the projections 14a-14d are formed from polyurethane foam having relatively low impact resilience. Thus, locally large body pressure is not received, and oppression feeling onto the body is not felt. The impact resilience of a layer on the upper sides 18 is preferably not more than 13%, and the impact resilience of the substrate 12 and the lower sides 17 is preferably 20-60% in aspect of prevention of excessive sinking and easiness of tossing.
