81 Elastic fitted cover US10382263 2003-03-05 US06883193B2 2005-04-26 Lynwood Charles Brooks; Erik William Spencer; Stephen Horace Tsiarkezos
A form-fitting cover has a top panel that has an elastic stretch in a least one linear direction in the range of 25 to 150% and a skirt attached to and depending from the periphery of the top panel. The skirt has an upper edge that has an elastic stretch at least equal to the elastic stretch of the periphery of the top panel. The skirt further has of an elastic or inelastic stretch that is at least as large as the elastic stretch of the periphery of the top panel.
82 Fitted mattress pad and method of forming a fitted mattress pad US10374885 2003-02-26 US06823544B2 2004-11-30 Terry Y. Treece
A fitted mattress pad for covering the top and sides of a mattress includes a first layer of material, a second layer of material and a layer of batting intermediate the first and second layers. The pad also comprises a skirt for covering the sides and ends of a mattress. One of the first and second layers is generally sized to a peripheral dimension to form the top platform of a mattress pad. The batting layer is generally sized to a peripheral dimension to form the top platform of a mattress pad. The skirt is an integral extension of one of the first or second layers of the mattress pad. The first layer, second layer and batting layer are joined together to form a unitary mattress pad.
83 Titanium mattress member US10268747 2002-10-10 US20040068800A1 2004-04-15 Richard F. Gladney; Robert Hellyer
A versatile support member constructed of a metallic mesh is provided in a bedding product. The support member is placed on top of the mattress core (whether foam or spring coil) before the mattress cover is attached. The support member may be constructed of titanium wire in a woven or welded mesh grid or web configuration, although other metals (such as, but not limited to, vanadium, chromium, platinum, molybdenum, nickel, iron, zinc), alloys thereof, or fiber composites (such as, but not limited to, carbon or graphite) may be used. The support member may be directly attached to the core or may be secured to the upper or lower border rods by hog rings, stitching, lacing, or other conventional means.
84 Hinged inner spring mattress and manufacturing method US111996 1998-07-08 US6088857A 2000-07-18 David D. Ogle
A hingeable inner spring mattress adapted for the marine environment comprises a pair of inner spring base sections with each base section having a top and bottom surfaces and a peripheral side wall. The peripheral side walls of the base sections define corresponding hingeable side walls. A fabric shell encloses the bottoms and side walls of the base sections and forms a hinge along a hinge axis between the hingeable side walls and adjacent the top surfaces of the base sections so that one base section may be pivoted from a normal position wherein the top surfaces of the base sections are coplanar to a retracted position to provide access to an area below the pivoted base section. A hinge line cover sheet of nonstretchable fabric is secured at both ends to the top surfaces of the base sections with a central segment thereof which extends over the hinge axis in tension when the base sections are coplanar. A cover in the form of a quilted fabric, pillow top, etc. may be secured to the upper periphery of the shell to complete the mattress.
85 Field serviceable mattress and method for manufacture US181320 1994-01-13 US5432964A 1995-07-18 Brian M. Strell
A mattress has a conventional spring core. Top and bottom insulators and padding are held in place by top and bottom cover assemblies. The cover assemblies are completely assembled before application to the core. Each cover assembly includes a horizontal panel with an annular vertical flange around its perimeter. Each flange has a hem in its free edge. Elongate rigid rods are held in the hems. Plastic wire ties on the flanges each enclose an upper rod, a lower rod and a peripheral portion of the core. When the ties are closed down to a reduced diameter, the rods and flanges are drawn together and anchored to the core. One of the cover assemblies has a loop member of a hook and loop fastener secured to the perimeter of the panel. The other cover assembly has an annular border skirt attached to the perimeter of the panel external to the flange with a binding tape covering the seam. The free edge of the border skirt also has a binding tape covering and a hook member of the hook and loop fastener adjacent the tape. The border skirt is pulled over the flanges until hook and loop fasteners can be joined together to seal the mattress. Binding tapes give the appearance of a conventional mattress with covers stitched closed on special mattress sewing machines, whereas the entire mattress can be assembled and disassembled for repairs by one worker with hand tools.
86 Therapeutic household bed mattress US918756 1992-07-27 US5226185A 1993-07-13 Yvan R. Guay; Gilles M. Levesque
A covering for bed mattress comprising a plastic foam layer and a quilted layer superposed on the foam layer and a plurality of flat permanent magnetic bans adheringly mounted under the foam layer. The magnetic bands are located at predetermined distances from each other and are made of permanent fine magnetic particles embedded in a rubber-like flexible thermoplastic binder. The layers have a total thickness of about 2 to 5 inches and the magnets have an induction of about 1250 to 3850 gauss. The magnetic bands are disposed along a plurality of parallel rows and the magnetic bands of each row are disposed in staggered relationship with the magnetic bands of adjacent rows. The magnetic bands are preferably rectangular with a width of about 2 to 3 inches and a length of about 5 to 8 inches. The distance between each band and between each adjacent row is about 10 to 15 inches. The covering provides therapeutic benefits to the human body.
87 Mattress liner with magnets in pockets US952592 1992-09-28 US5195197A 1993-03-23 Hector Gutierrez; Yamile Gutierrez
A mattress liner to substantially cover a mattress surface, the mattress liner including a mattress pad having a top surface and a bottom surface, and a plurality of substantially thin magnets releasably disposed in pockets substantially spaced apart relation from one another along the bottom surface of the mattress pad and secured thereto.
88 Method of making protection cover US223424 1988-07-25 US4894101A 1990-01-16 Terrance W. Sachetti
A cover in the form of a blanket has a protective grid of phosphorescent material that when exposed to light and placed in a dark environment emits light for a period of time. The protective grid is a pattern of intersecting ribbons of phosphorescent material anchored to and covering substantially one surface of a fabric. The protective grid provides a visual light shield that creates an image of protection and is useable for amusement and entertainment.
89 Mattress US516477 1974-10-21 US3956783A 1976-05-18 Frederick L. Stoller
A mattress is formed of a core element and a covering. The covering comprises a nonwoven fabric which is formed by needle punching batts of thermoplastic staple. One side of the needle punched batt is heated to fuse the surface.

Mattresses and improved fabric covers for providing mattresses that have smooth surfaces. Additionally, methods for manufacturing non-quilted mattress covers and for manufacturing mattresses employing non-quilted mattress covers. The systems and methods described herein include mattress panels that can be manufactured separate from the inner core construction, and laid over the inner core to be fastened in place as a sleeping surface for the mattress. Optionally, these mattress panels can include a layer of fire retardant material, that may be added as a layer of material or that may be incorporated into one or more of the layers, such as a filler layer, in the mattress panel.
