A mechanic's body support including first and second horizontally-oriented and spaced-apart base rails and first and second spaced-apart support rails. Each of the support rails has one end connected to a respective one of the first and second base rails. Each support rail also extends upwardly from and is in vertical alignment with the base rails for supporting a mechanic as he kneels in an elevated position over the engine compartment of a motor vehicle. A chest pad and a knee pad are mounted in spaced-apart relation between the support rails for securing the support rails in a fixed, spaced-apart relation, and for supporting the chest and knees of the mechanic while in the kneeling position, thus allowing the skeletal structure of the body to support the weight, rather than the back and leg muscles.

151 Concrete finishers' knee skis US60834 1987-06-12 US4747470A 1988-05-31 Antonio O. Fernandez
Concrete finishers' knee skis provide a support for a cement finisher to move across wet cement, either kneeling or standing on the skis. Each ski is formed of a elongated sheet stainless steel body with upturned ends and with side walls, both bent with a curvature radius of about 1/2 inch. In one upturned end is a stirrup cage having a top opening to receive the shoe toe or a worker in a kneeling position, and a second side opening to receive the toe of the worker in a standing position. The ski is thus pulled and pushed only by the shoe toe, and may be moved forward, backward, or sideways without indenting or otherwise damaging the surface of the finished cement.

Each leg member is composed of a support portion and an integral ganging portion which have surfaces diverging from an interior apex to form an axially extending groove. This groove is of a size and shape to snugly receive the ganging portion of the mating leg member to form a solid joint when the adjoining leg members are interengaged. The leg members are externally connected to the seat member to permit a vertical stacking of the individual chairs to facilitate storage thereof. The rear leg members are constructed with a hole and corresponding bayonet joint to detachably receive an optional kneeler that can be pivotally moved into a retracted position.
