223 Body support for automotive mechanics US09975710 2001-10-10 US20020014796A1 2002-02-07 Gary D. Bottoms
A mechanic's body support including first and second horizontally-oriented and spaced-apart base rails and first and second spaced-apart support rails. Each of the support rails has one end connected to a respective one of the first and second base rails. Each support rail also extends upwardly from and is in vertical alignment with the base rails for supporting a mechanic as he kneels in an elevated position over the engine compartment of a motor vehicle. A chest pad and a knee pad are mounted in spaced-apart relation between the support rails for securing the support rails in a fixed, spaced-apart relation, and for supporting the chest and knees of the mechanic while in the kneeling position, thus allowing the skeletal structure of the body to support the weight, rather than the back and leg muscles.
224 Three point cross-legged support seat US83053 1993-06-25 US5374109A 1994-12-20 Alex Wortman
A stable seat and back support specially configured to elevate the buttocks and hips above the knees and to shift a portion of the user's weight from the buttocks to the knees and forelegs in a cross-legged position. The seat is sized and configured to position the user's body for meditation and relaxation in a solid stable position that combines a sitting and kneeling posture. In particular, the height and depth of the chair are sized to encourage the cross-legged sitting-kneeling posture. The depth is sized to purposely limit support of the thighs and the height selected for vertical posture of the user's back in the sitting-kneeling cross-legged position. A shallow notch is formed in the front of the seat to properly position the user's inside heel in the cross-legged position and thereby to help stabilize the seat and the position of the person using the seat.
225 Knee support apparatus US751138 1991-08-28 US5125479A 1992-06-30 Anne Nemes; Miklos Nemes
A knee support apparatus for use as a flotation raft for utilizing a flotation raft with each foot for permitting ease of support of an individual upon a surface, such as concrete to be finished. Each raft includes a knee engaging loop, and a rearwardly oriented foot receiving socket. A modification of the invention includes padding for enhancing comfort of the individual upon an uncured concrete surface.
226 Kneeling aid US138651 1987-12-28 US4798264A 1989-01-17 Jack V. Miller; Ruth Ellen Miller
A kneeling aid to facilitate kneeling has planar, rectangular, platform, the upper surface provided with recessed storage compartments bounded by upstanding ribs, and a pair of three-sided recesses bounded by upstanding ribs conforming to the size and shape of a pair of resilient concave and knee-conforming pads, each three-sided recess having its fourth side open along one side of the platform. A recessed socket is provided at each corner of each end of the rectangle and an inverted U-shaped strut is installed at each end of the platform, each strut having a pair of depending legs engaged into the respective recessed sockets at each end of the rectangle.A preferred embodiment has the rectangular platform molded as a hollow plastic part including an upstanding beam extending between the recessed sockets on one long side of the rectangle, has the inverted U-shaped struts made of metal tubing, and has a tubular resilient handle disposed about the base portions connecting the legs of the strut.

228 Multi-purpose work unit US44774 1987-05-01 US4763756A 1988-08-16 Gerald P. Horan
A multi-purpose work unit comprising a platform having; a top side, and bottom side, carrying on the platform top an anti-slip surface, and a padding on the bottom side; a plurality of support members of alternative cross-section having a top section extending from the bottom side of the platform at its extremities parallel to the platform and abutting the interior surfaces of the platform and fastened thereto, said support members continuing from the platform extremities in a downward angle away from the platform and arcing at the extremities of the support remote the platform defining a support member bottom, continuing therefrom in complimentary circumscription returning to its origin at the underside of the platform; wherein a number of relationships exist amongst the dimensions of the work unit described.
229 Self-aligning pivot support for church kneeler US3589771D 1969-05-19 US3589771A 1971-06-29 HARRIS HORACE E
A self-aligning pivot support for church kneelers and like devices in which spaced supporting arms are pivotally mounted for swinging movement on the end and intermediate pew supports. The pivot member is mounted on a supporting bracket structure so as to have universal movements which permit of automatic compensation for slight variations and departures with respect to mounting surfaces and spacing dimensions, a spring operating to urge the pivot member towards a normal position, and resiliently oppose tilting as well as limited axial movement of the pivot member.
