PURPOSE: To improve the thermal performance of the compsn. without substantially degrading the execution and physical characteristics of the compsn. by compounding bauxite as a hard aggregate contg. water of hydration having specific sieve analysis values and a cementitious binder. CONSTITUTION: The hydraulic cementitious binder (e.g. gypsum, Portland cement) is compounded at 10 to 50 wt.% with 10 to 60 wt.% bauxite as the hard aggregate contg. the water of hydration having the sieve analysis values of +40: max. 1%; -40, +60: 0 to 35%; -60, +100: max. 65%; -100, +200: min. 95% when expressed as the cumulative holding rates to a screen #. More preferably, shredded foamed polystyrene (the degree of shredding is 0 to 20% in the holding rate with a #12 sieve and ≤40% in the holding rate with #30 to #325 sieves) is preferably added as a soft or light aggregate material at 0.5 to 3.5% to the mixture. At the time of execution, the mixture contg. the bauxite and the hydraulic cementitious binder is dry blended and water is added to prepare the sprayable slurry and a curing accelerator is added near a spray nozzle to this slurry. PURPOSE: To safely process radioactive waste over a long period of time by constituting aggregate used for a processing structure with cement clinker. CONSTITUTION: pH indicates an important factor in guarantee of long term safety of storage of a radioactive waste processing body. In a case where pH is high, a metal-made element is corroded at low speed, damage of reinforced concrete is delayed at this rate and long term safety of storage is increased due to rich durability. A degree of solubility wherein a radioactive nuclide is dissolved in aqueous solution is low and the radioactive nuclide is effectively prevented from spreading and scattering in ground water. Ca(OH) 2 determining pH of cement is comparatively quickly lost in cement paste. Conversely, in the case of cement clinker-made aggregate, a speed wherein Ca(OH) 2 is produced is higher than another speed wherein Ca(OH) 2 is dissolved and lost and residue concentration is heightened. Sprayable fireproofing compositions for structural members such as steel columns are provided. The compositions comprise a cementitious binder such as Portland cement, and a hard aggregate containing water of hydration. Such hard aggregates contribute not only to the strength of the fireproofing composition, but also contribute thermally. The product is produced by dry blending a mixture of the cementitious binder and hard aggregate, as well as other-optional additives. Upon the addition of water, sprayable slurries are formed which can be pumped to the point of application. An accelerator is added in close proximity to the point of injection. Other additives may also be included, such as starch, adhesives and cement strength enhancers. The slurries adhere to the structural member in the slurried state and after setting to provide excellent fire and heat protection.

Le mélange de mortier sec contient en plus un adjuvant granuleux pour le liant inorganique augmentant l'alcalinité et ayant une vitesse de réaction sensiblement plus faible que ce liant. Cette "réserve d'alcalinité" empêche une diffusion de CO2 et de SO2 de l'air dans le béton, ce qui s'oppose à la détérioration du béton.
