45 Sliding recreational device US10440904 2003-05-19 US06981706B1 2006-01-03 Detlef Kramer
A sliding recreational device having a body, a seating area for a passenger, and a sliding pan mounted on the bottom of the body is disclosed. A cushioning element mounted in the body protects a passenger from injury while riding the device. By applying certain patterns to the bottom of the sliding pan, a stable, more predictable ride path is made possible for the rider. The addition of a system of pivoting braking elements and cabling enable a passenger to steer and brake the device.
46 Rescue sled US10424450 2003-04-29 US20040217563A1 2004-11-04 Kenneth E. Butts JR.
A portable rescue sled includes an inflatable base covered with netting suitable to rescue victims who have fallen through the ice of a frozen pond. The base is normally coiled in a retracted deflated condition. When positioned at the edge of a lake or pond, air from a compressed air tank on the sled is used to inflate the base which uncoils toward the victim into an extended position. A portion of the netting extends beyond the base and is used by the victim to climb onto the sled which may then be pulled to safety.
47 Steerable inflatable sled US10227984 2002-08-26 US20040036238A1 2004-02-26 Thomas M. Plante
A steerable inflatable sled that includes a first inflatable segment, a second inflatable segment, and a predetermined articulation zone extending from the first inflatable segment to the second inflatable segment, the longitudinal axis of the sled extending through the first inflatable segment, said second inflatable segment and the articulation zone, when the sled is in motion on a surface, applying a force to the first inflatable segment sufficient to cause a bend at the predetermined articulation zone, changes the direction of travel of the sled.
48 Inflatable tube ski vehicle with steering mechanism US09915037 2001-07-25 US06655701B2 2003-12-02 Barry G. Oberpriller
An inflatable tube ski vehicle with steering mechanism comprises an inflated, torus-shaped tube or bladder and a ski insert disposed in the central opening of the bladder. The ski insert may be dish-shaped, or it may partially wrap around the top and/or bottom of the bladder. In either case, the ski vehicle has a steering/braking mechanism comprising left and right lever arms pivotally attached to and extending down through the ski insert. To turn, a rider simply pulls on one of the lever arms, causing a lower portion of the lever arm to extend past a bottom of the insert. To brake, both arms are pulled simultaneously. Because the ski vehicle is round and because the weight of the vehicle and rider are largely uniformly distributed over the center of the vehicle, a pivot or fulcrum point occurs directly under the rider's seat, affording a significant degree of control.
49 Cushion slider toy US838306 1986-03-10 US4732399A 1988-03-22 Daniel T. Reilly; Joseph Eckenfels
A cushion slider toy is described which includes at least one inflatable tube in the form of an annular ring and a covering member which surrounds and encloses the inflatable tube. The top of the covering member forms a flat surface which serves as a seat for a person to sit on while riding the cushion slider toy. Handles may also be attached to the covering member. The cushion slider toy may be used to slide on snow or it may be used on water.
50 Self-collapsible, inflatable device US216408 1980-12-15 US4389961A 1983-06-28 John R. Parish
A self-collapsible, inflatable device consists of a sheet made of a thermoplastic material having a memory set such that it forms into a coil when unrestrained and at least one inflatable member, semi-rigid when inflated and capable of being coiled when deflated, the inflatable member being mounted on a surface of the sheet which assumes a concave shape when the sheet is allowed to form into a coil. In one preferred embodiment the sheet includes upper and lower sheet members joined at their respective leading edges and the inflatable member is attached to the lower surface of the upper sheet and the upper surface of the lower sheet. The inflatable member and the upper and lower sheets are arranged such that the self-collapsible device coils itself when the inflatable member is deflated.
