181 Newhair by simi belo US10579022 2004-11-05 US20070044814A1 2007-03-01 Simi Belo
The NewHair wig features a deliberate gap (3) at the front of the wig (2). Through this gap the wearer brings through his/her own real hair (5), parts and brushes over the wig hair to cover the gap, and in doing so, reveals some of his/her own real hair, natural hairline, scalp and roots (6), so that it looks as if all of the hair is growing out of his/her head. Whether the gap is on the left (7), in the centre (8), or on the right (9), it adds much-needed realism to the traditional wig. This is because traditional wigs use fringes, hair bands and other features to hide the stitching, but in doing so, they conceal the wearer's own roots and hairline, so it is apparent that the hair is not really growing out of the head and therefore the hair is fake.

185 Open loop hair extension US10167552 2002-06-11 US20030226571A1 2003-12-11 Khaliqah Ameenah Rahman
The present invention provides a method of adding extensions to a wearers own intact hair. The hair extension of the present invention includes a plurality of artificial or human hair strands having a length, turned about a separate rod, the rod is used only to form the open loop. The rod is removed leaving a one embodiment hair extension, comprising of a length of hair having a first end with an open loop and a second end that is banded or tied. Whereby the wearers hair is prepared to receive the open loop extension by plaiting cornrows horizontally on the wearers head. The open loop first end of the extension is inserted through a section of a cornrow plait vertically, under crossing the cornrow plait to the scalp, until the full loop is visible, the open loop is ready to receive the banded or tied second end. By inserting the banded or tied second end of the extension completely through the first end open loop, pulling tight, causing a looping around the plaited cornrow section, resulting in a completely attached one embodiment open loop extension.
186 Method for producing a hair strip US09885438 2001-06-20 US06581609B2 2003-06-24 Gerhard Ott
Method for producing a hair strip wherein hairs lying adjacent to one another are joined together striplike by fusing on and cooling of a strip of synthetic material. For secure cementing of the hairs these are joined together at a predetermined distance from one of their two ends by pouring on of a strip of synthetic material, following which the protruding ends are cut off after solidification of the synthetic material. For improving the hold of the hairs, they may be joined in the region of the strip of synthetic material either before or after this has been poured on by additionally stitching with a thread preferably consisting of the same material.

188 Zig-zag method of braiding hair US508706 1995-07-28 US5586566A 1996-12-24 Ryeu K. Kim; Im S. Lee
A zig-zag method of braiding hair which is applied to the production of braided wigs and hair pieces. The method suggests three specific and essential steps to producing two identical hair pieces. The first step is to arrange a single lock of braided hair in a zig-zag orientation. The second step is to affix a pair of bases, one on each side of the zig-zag oriented lock of hair, and the third step is to make an incision down the middle of the zig-zag equidistant from each side of the of the ends of the zig-zags, resulting in two identical hair pieces. The hair that is used in this process can either be real hair, synthetic hair, or a mixture of both.
189 Wigs without head cap made of wefts of single line stitch US007957 1993-01-22 US5271420A 1993-12-21 Heon S. Park
A wig is provided having a single line weft and no head cap. Hairs of the wig are joined by a single line of stitch, folded by heating and coated with an adhesive. A linear lace of two or three lines of hairs is fixed to a vinyl sheet. The single weft of wig hair is tied to the linear lace with a binding line. The wig is light in weight due to a single line of weft and the direction of curl can be easily changed. The weft of narrow width will not damage the scalp and suits well with the hair of the wearer.
190 Hairpiece base and method of manufacture and fitting of hairpiece US829117 1986-02-14 US4688584A 1987-08-25 Kare A. Nilsen
A method of making a hairpiece base by which the hairpiece is fitted so as to promote the formation of a vacuum between the base of the hairpiece and the scalp of the wearer. The base is contoured and formed about its periphery so that the base is slightly smaller around its periphery than the corresponding portion of the wearer's scalp. This reduction in size creates a slight compressive force upon the wearer's scalp which aids in establishing a vacuum. The vacuum formed by expelling the air from under the base effectively seals the covered portion of the scalp to the base causing the hairpiece to adhere to the wearer, eliminating the need for adhesives.

192 Hairpiece with simulated natural hairline front US578205 1984-02-08 US4509539A 1985-04-09 Charles Alfieri
A hairpiece for simulating a natural hairline at the front of the head of a user comprises a flexible shape-retaining foundation constituted of a light-weight lace mesh having a multitude of fine fibers crossing one another at intersections which are ultrasonically welded to strengthen the mesh to maintain and to retain a predetermined shape which conforms to the contour of the scalp area to be covered. A multitude of hairs is attached to the mesh substantially all the way up to a non-frayable unbound front edge thereof. The hair-attached foundation mesh is detachably secured to the scalp area, and the line of attached hair at the front of the mesh is reliably positioned on the front of the head of the user to simulate a natural hairline thereat. The method of making the hairpiece also is disclosed.
193 Hair-weaving device US684769 1976-05-10 US4049006A 1977-09-20 Proxy G. Saunders; Lorine Moorman
A hair-weaving machine includes two endwise juxtaposed threaded shafts having a gap formed therebetween and two arms provided with grippers which may be rotated in a clockwise and anticlockwise directions around the shafts, respectively. As the arms are slowly advanced in the same directions longitudinally along the respective shafts, one arm with its gripper pushes a needle-attached thread through an endportion of a hairpiece and past a strand of hairs, while the other arm and its associated gripper grips the needle after the latter has been pushed through the endportion of the hairpiece and past the strand of hairs, and returns the needle and its associated thread subsequently to the first arm. The next action of the first gripper arm results in a complete loop being formed around the hairpiece endportion and the strand of natural hairs, subsequent loops being formed as the arms are advanced longitudinally along the respective shafts. A spool with a torsion spring attached to the frame of the machine keeps the thread tout at all times, which results in the formation of tight loops.
194 Hairpiece, particularly a toupet, and process for making same US460306 1974-04-12 US3971392A 1976-07-27 Kurt A. Brehmer
The hairpiece consists of a foundation made from a single thickness of plastic sheets and hairs which are inserted through hair channels in the foundation. The hairs are secured in place in the foundation by plugs of adhesive inserted in the hair channels. The hairpiece is made by placing a sheet of plastics material on a mould corresponding in shape to the head of the eventual user, inserting hairs through the hair channels in that foundation, the ends of the hairs projecting beyond the internal surface of the foundation, removing those parts of the hairs that project from the internal surface, applying to the internal surface an adhesive which has a viscosity and a capillary adhesion such that the adhesive penetrates and fills the hair channels, and finally, after the adhesive has set, removing the adhesive from the internal surface of the foundation, while leaving the adhesive in place in the hair channels as plugs.
