PURPOSE:To obtain a sharp card superior in water resistance, light resistance, etc., by electrostatically transferring a toner image on a photoconductive receptor onto a card base or a cover film, fixing it with a solvent vapor, overlaying the cover film on the card base, and sticking them through heating and pressing them. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive layer 2 formed on a conductive substrate 1 is exposed using a portrait photograph screen positive film, and a color electrostatic latent image is developed with a photomechanical process printer to obtain a toner image 5. The reverse side of the cover film 6 is charged to a polarity opposite to that of the toner 5 with a corona discharger 4 and the toner image 5 is transferred to the reverse side. The transferred toner image on the cover film 6 is fixed with a solvent vapor, the film 6 is overlaid on the card base 7 and heat pressed between heat press plates 7, 8 to stick them. A sharp color photograph card good in contrast, superior in durability, and free from migration into the card base 7, the cover film 6, etc. is obtained by using the toner having an m.p. higher than the heating temp.

1427581 Credit cards GAO GES FUR AUTOMATION UND ORGANISATION mbH 15 March 1973 [16 March 1972] 12452/73 Heading B6A A credit card or the like is produced from a relatively thick plastics sheet 1, which may be transparent, a paper sheet 2 having variations 8 in the level of at least one of its surfaces, and a relatively thin transparent plastics sheet 3 the paper sheet 2 being laminated between the other two sheets so that its surface variations are reproduced on the surface of the relatively thin sheet 3. The variations may be due to watermarks 4, security threads or printing 9. A signature strip may be provided either on security printed paper embedded in the outside surface of one of the sheets 1, 3 or on a portion of the sheet 2 not laminated (Fig. 4). Additionally a photograph may be incorporated either as a separate sheet included during the laminating process or as a layer coated on one of the sheets before lamination. The card may be used as a printing plate. The laminated card may have a rim 7.

1413832 Electro-photography RICOH K K 18 Dec 1972 [20 Dec 1971] 58258/72 Heading G2H [Also in Division B6] An identification card is produced by making an electro-photographic picture of a person, adding data to the developed picture and applying a transparent protective layer. Preferably the picture is made by exposing a photo-conductive member, which may be the card or a member which transfers a latent charge image to the card, through a halftone grid or screen. Alternatively a photo-sensitive screen may be imaged, and used to control a flow of corona ions which images the card. Then data are added and a synthetic resinous film is laminated to the card, or a lacquer is applied. The card may comprise a paper or resinous support, an aluminium layer and a surface layer of a dielectric such as an acrylic resin, a methacrylic resin, polyvinyl chloride or a photo-conductive material such as zinc oxide or poly-N-vinyl carbazole carried by a bonding agent. Electrically conductive rubber or sheet metal may replace the support and aluminium layer.

The identification card comprises a support substrate (1) which has at least one side provided with a photographic coating. Spaced elements are imprinted on the latter coating, with further identification data provided on the substrate in the spaces between these elements, which are formed so as to prevent the identification data being altered. The identification data may be reproduced photographically on the card and/or written by hand and/or printed, e.g. to provide a photograph (7) of the recipient together with his signature and personal data (5). The imprinted elements may be in the form of the fine lines (4) with wider spacings between them.

Identifying information is stored or recorded on a recording element and camouflaged by recording the identifying information on a recording element through an information transformation medium such as a lenticular plate and then camouflaging the recorded information by recording the information on the same recording element through the information transformation medium, disposed at a different position than that used in recording the identifying information thereby concealing the identifying information recorded on the recording element. The concealed information thus storaged or recorded can be identified by observing the recording element through the same information transformation medium at the same position used in the initial recording of the identifying information.

A method for producing an information carrier in the form of a card, such as an identification card or pass, as well as an information carrier produced in accordance with this method. The information carrier comprises a plurality of plastic layers combined with one another into a block, at least one of which contains a photograph of the bearer and/or his fingerprint and/or other readable or machine-readable data in the form of a photographic layer. This photographic layer is produced and incorporated into the sandwich of plastic layers making up the identification card in that a specially prepared film is exposed to light, developed, fixed and dries, and then the carrier layer of this film sandwich is removed from the emulsion after the emulsion has entered into an adhesive bond with a first plastic carrier layer, this adhesion being substantially greater than the adhesion of the emulsion to the film's auxiliary carrier, which is to be removed.

The tamperproof document consists of a photographic material as information carrier which is laminated on one or both sides with a transparent foil. The foil is attached to the surface of the information carrier by a layer of adhesive containing poly-1,2-alkyleneimine. The document is eminently saft against falsification.

Data cards are formed by writing a succession of latent images on a first web of photosensitive film, developing the film and then joining the film with a web of high resolution laser optical recording tape. The webs may be joined in either back-to-back or front-to-back relationship. In the first case there is an eye readable image on one side and formatted optical recording tape on the opposite side. In the second case an eye readable image is optionally adjacent optical recording tape, but on different layers, with both readable from the same side through a transparent substrate or base. The composite web is cut transversely to its lengthwise dimension into a plurality of wallet size members. Bar code is recorded together with the latent image so that in checking cards for quality control purposes, defective cards may be correlated with particular images in order that a defective card be recreated. The high resolution optical recording tape is preformatted with continuous servo tracks or data location grids without header information so that registration of the eye readable images and the laser recording tape is not necessary.

The tamper-proof document consists of a photographic material as information carrier comprising front- and back gelatine layers, the outer of the gelatine layers of which contain particles of a homo- or copolymer of an acrylic and/or methacrylic acid ester. The information carrier is laminated on one or both sides to a transparent foil by means of a hardenable adhesive. The document is remarkably safe against falsification.
