A chart (10) is provided with a plurality of zones (12) within which are located groups of markers (14), which can denominate any month of the year. A series of labels (22,24) representing events, objects or times are of a shape and form to overlie all or part of a marker. The chart could he used for child development, monitoring the progress of a patient or the like. It has the advantage of being configurable and easily visible.

Disclosed is a book-like disc casing which comprises a series of a front cover (12), a spine (14) and a rear cover (13), made of cardboard, and a plurality of pieces of paper (15), the front cover, spine and rear cover being folded to be like a book with the pieces of paper interleaved between the front cover and the rear cover. A personal booklet with a picture of the face and personal data of the bookholder such as a passport (5) for providing the booklet holder's identity comprises transparent and supporting sheets bound in the booklet separately from and adjacent to each other, an image receiving layer (1) formed on one surface of one of the separate transparent and supporting sheets (2, 3), an optically readable data printing section provided on either one of the transparent and supporting sheets where optically readable personal data of said booklet holder is printed, and an adhesive layer (4) for adhering the transparent and supporting sheets to sandwich the image receiving layer therebetween after having formed a composite image of the picture and personal data in the image receiving layer.

A personal booklet (2) with a picture (1b) of the face and personal data of the bookholder such as a passport for providing the bookholder's identity comprises transparent and supporting sheets (2,3) bound in the booklet separately from and adjacent to each other, and an identification data bearing sheet with an image receiving layer formed thereon. After having printed a composite image of the picture and the personal data on the image receiving layer, and optically readable personal data of the bookholder described by optically readable characters such as font type number and/or alphabets in an optically readable data printing section defined in the image receiving layer. The transparent sheet and the supporting sheet are adhered with adhesive layers (4a,4b) to sandwich the identification data bearing sheet therebetween.

A changeable book system including a book chassis configured to receive a plurality of books. The book chassis includes one or more membrane switches aligned with identifier indicia located on one or more pages of a book when the book is positioned adjacent to the book chassis. A reader may activate one or more membrane switches by pressing the corresponding identifier indicia. Activation of a membrane switch causes the book chassis to perform a function and/or produce a sound.

A book for use in an augmented reality system comprises a first page on a first leaf of the book comprising a first fiduciary marker for indicating the orientation of the book to a recognition system, and a second page on a second leaf of the book comprising a second fiduciary marker for indicating the orientation of the book to a recognition system and also page marker for indicating the page number of the second page to the recognition system, wherein the orientation of the page marker is ambiguous without reference to a fiduciary marker, and the page marker is positioned on the second page closer to an edge of the page than the second fiduciary marker so as to become visible to the recognition system before the second fiduciary marker, as the book is turned to the second page; meanwhile, an entertainment device comprises a video input for receiving captured video frames comprising an image of the book, a fiduciary marker recognition processor operable to recognise the first fiduciary marker printed on the first page of the book and operable to estimate an orientation of the book based upon the recognised first fiduciary marker, and a page marker recognition processor operable to recognise the page marker printed on the second page of the book with reference to the estimated orientation of the book as based upon the recognised first fiduciary marker printed on the first page of the book.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Herstellungsverfahren für ein Booklet mit einem übergro-βen Deckblatt (10). Hierzu werden zunächst alle Seiten (20) des Booklets zusammengefügt und verbunden. Daraufhin wird das Deckblatt zunächst beiseite geklappt und die verbleibenden Blätter auf das gewünschte Format beschnitten. Anschließend wird das Deckblatt in einem speziellen Verfahren, vorzugsweise mittels eines Laserstrahl, auf das gewünschte, übergroße Format gebracht. Die Erfindung beinhaltet ferner ein Booklet, bei dem gemäß dem oben genannten Herstellungsprozess das Deckblatt auf andere Weise beschnitten wurde als der verbleibende Blätterstapel.
