A storytelling book with clear loose-leaf page holders is provided so that a person, such as a child, can illustrate and narrate with text a story of his or her own invention on a series of insertion pages and then present that story to an audience. A selected number of pages comprising the insertion pages created by the storyteller, and corresponding insertion pages, are arranged in book-like fashion and bound together so that the book may be disposed either with the pages flat on a support or in easel-like disposition. A first side of one of the pages is disposed in proximity to a second side of an adjacent page when the book-like arrangement is in a closed condition. The pages are disposed so that the person listening to the story sees the first sides and their respective illustrations or pictures while the storyteller or reader sees the second page sides and their corresponding text.
184 Children's book having pictures with integrated photographs US275146 1999-03-24 US6142530A 2000-11-07 Karin Emmerich
A book is provided, especially for children, having a cover and a content including several pages, on which pictures and/or text are found. In order to ensure that children approach a book of this type with great enthusiasm, this book is individualized, in that the owner of the book appears in the book him-/herself. Since mentioning by name in the continuous text would lead to undesirable empty spaces, or even to unwanted line, paragraph and page breaks, however, areas are provided in the pictures, which are already present in the book, for applying a photographic representation of the owner of the book.
185 Method and computer generated swatch cards for matching colors US262571 1999-03-04 US6112665A 2000-09-05 James R. Teter; Thor A. Olson

The indicia or indicia are broken down into elements and each element is assigned Cartesian coordinates according to the X and Y coordinate system with the y-coordinates corresponding to the pagination of a respective leaf, and the x-coordinates for each respective leaf corresponding to individual mark elements on the face of the leaf.
187 Apparatus for shared reading US905439 1997-08-04 US5957693A 1999-09-28 Donald J. Panec
The invention is a method for promoting reading in a novice reader and a book to be used in the method. The book includes a story with two texts, one written at a reading level appropriate for a skilled reader and the other written at a lower reading level appropriate for the novice reader. The texts are arranged in alternating sections and each section forms a piece of the story and supplements the preceding section. In the method, the skilled reader and novice reader take turns reading aloud from the book while the other follows along with the words, so that each reader is responsible for reading a substantial portion of the story. The method and the book thus provide for a shared reading experience that is advantageous for encouraging and facilitating the novice reader to learn to read.

195 Perforating blade and signature US303946 1994-09-09 US5524930A 1996-06-11 Thomas Foster; Rodney Michalk; Scott Summers
A perforating blade and signature having a unitary blade (12) that is very narrow in width in proportion to its length, with a cutting edge (16) along one longitudinal side. The cutting edge (16) comprises a combination of a number of spaced-apart straight (12) and angled (20) sections arranged so that the angled sections (20) angle inwardly toward a center point (18) on the perforating blade and along a single side of the cutting edge only. In one embodiment the pattern starts with a single long cutting tooth in the center (18) of the blade followed outwardly from the center on both sides with a repeating pattern of three angled teeth followed by a short straight tooth and so forth. The angled teeth (20) are all angled to the same side of the blade so that the resulting fold line (26) has cuts only on one side (29) of the fold line. The angled cuts result in ties (28) that twist easily, and that, therefore, result in fold lines (26) that fold cleanly without gusseting or binding. The angled cuts and teeth can be straight or curved so long as they are angled toward the approximate middle of the blade and are formed on one side of the blade only.
