PURPOSE: To partially supply a weblike material by advancing a web to a processing station in a guide groove by a drive mechanism, to precess and cut the front portion of the web, and then separating the front portion from the processing station to retreat the front end. CONSTITUTION: A feed roller 9 is driven by a control signal, and a rocker 11 is pivotally driven via a pivotally mounted pin 12 to move a guide groove groove for housing a web 4 toward the direction of the roller 9. The groove passes through the opening part 10 of a guide plate 7, to push the web 4 to a guide plate 8; concurrently a projection 15 is separated, and the paper web 4 proceeds by the rotating roller 9 to be positioned within a printing means when the front edge is sensed by an optical barrier 17. The front end of the printed web 4 is cut and then retreats in the guide groove by inverting the rotation direction of the roller 9. After the roller 9 is stopped, the rocker 11 is positioned at the center position to release the roller 9 from an engaged condition in the guide groove, and the web 4 is clamped by a projection 15. Many holes are formed in a platen that is so disposed as to confront a printing head. A suction fan disposed under the platen generates suction force through the holes formed in the platen to thereby bring a paper into close contact with a surface of the platen. On a back surface of the platen, disposed is an airflow restriction plate formed with openings that correspond to a part of the holes in the platen. Before a leading edge of the paper arrives at the platen, the airflow restriction plate closes the holes. In association with a conveyance of the paper, the airflow restriction plate moves in a paper conveyance direction on the back surface of the platen and, at the same time, opens the closed holes sequentially from upstream in the paper conveyance direction. This can restrict inflow of air into the holes located downstream, in the paper conveyance direction, of the leading edge of the paper. |
