PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based heat-sealable adhesive for bonding the uppermost decorative layer such as a vinyl coating, a paper sheet or a veneer sheet to a wood or agriculatural byproduct base material such as a particle board, plywood or other similar material by using heat and pressure technique to produce a laminated wooden panel. SOLUTION: This adhesive is a water base heat-sealable one interposed between an uppermost decorative layer and a base material to bond both of them. In this case, the adhesive contains a polymer containing one or more kinds of monomers imparting Shore D hardness exceeding that of a wooden base material at a time of polymn. or copolymn. as a principal component. As monomers of this type, styrene, methyl methacrylate, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride and diphenylmethane diisocyanate are designated. This adhesive may contain a fusing agent, a filler, up to 10 wt.% of water and other conditioning additives. COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO

PURPOSE: To provide a veneer structure that looks like a wood laminate, has a tensile and bending strength at least equal to the wood laminate, and the main grain is in parallel to the laminate. CONSTITUTION: The invention relates to a diagonal veneer laminate structure consisting of several superposed veneer layers (1a, 1b, 1c...) glued to each other. In each veneer (1a, 1b, 1c...), the main grain (S1 or S2) is disposed to form a crossing angle a with the veneer laminate (1b, 1a, and 1c) which is in the range of 3 deg. to 60 deg..

PURPOSE: To use a material in an optimum manner and to obtain a maximum strength by arranging a number of wood thin boards produced by chipless division and having knife sides and opposite sides and by directing the opposite sides of the wood thin boards toward one external surface, over to this surface, when viewed from the center plane extending almost parallel to the surfaces of the thin boards in a plurality. CONSTITUTION: A wood thin board is produced from squared lumber by division leaving no chip, by using a knife, and has a knife side (x) and an opposite side (y). The knife side (x) has generally a coarse surface structure, while the opposite side (y) has a smooth and close surface structure. In a wood product 1 of a four-ply form, the wood thin boards 2a to 2d are so arranged that the opposite sides are directed toward external surfaces 4 and 5 respectively when viewed from the neutral center plane 3. Accordingly, the knife sides (x) of the wood thin boards 2b and 2c abut each other on the center plane 3 and the opposite sides (y) and the knife sides (x) of the wood thin board 2 alternate toward the outer surfaces 4 and 5 respectively. Since the opposite sides (y) of the wood thin board 2 are directed outside in the same numbers, arrangement of the wood product 1 thereof is not essential in the case of fitting.

PURPOSE: To promote hardening of an adhesive by imparting a groove communicated with the surface of board material and passing high-temp. gas through the groove in the case of laminating the plate material with the thermosetting adhesive. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of pieces of board material 1a, 1b,... having arbitrary thickness are laminated with a thermosetting adhesive such as a synthetic resin- based adhesive and heated while these are pressurized. At this time many lines of groove 2 described hereunder are formed at least on one face of the board material. These grooves 2 are communicated to the circumferential edge of the board material from the circumferential edge thereof. In the case of heating the board material, high-temp. gas such as heating steam and hot air is passed through the respective grooves 2. In such a constitution, the high-temp. gas can be passed without delay through the respective grooves formed on the surface of the board material. The adhesives present in the vicinities of the grooves are immediately and rapidly heated from the near distance via the plate material near to the grooves. Therefore the adhesive present in the centermost part from the plate material group is rapidly hardened. COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio

PURPOSE:To contrive to use small diameter timber, short wood, low grade wood and the like effectively and make it possible to control the specific gravity and strength by a method wherein at least both two layers, which are vertically adjacent to each other, among plywood constituent layers are made of a plurality of split wooden pieces and gaps are provided among all or a large number of the split wooden pieces. CONSTITUTION:Three-ply laminated plywood consists of the uppermost layer 1, a core layer 2 and the lowermost layer 3. All the three layers 1, 2 and 3 are made of a plurality of narrow split wooden pieces 4 and have gaps 5 among the respective split wooden pieces 4. As for the uppermost layer 1 and the lowermost layer 3 through the core layer 2, the gaps 5 in the lowermost layer 3 are arranged so as to position below the split wooden pieces 4 of the uppermost layer 1. In other words, the split wooden pieces 4 of the uppermost layer 1 and the split wooden pieces 4 of the lowermost layer 3 are laterally arranged alternately. Further, the edge parts of the split wooden pieces 4 of both the layers are positioned so as to overlap with each other heavily.

PURPOSE: To more naturally simulate even briar grain of any type by dyeing and adhering a natural timer sheet obtained by rotatably cutting a log, pressurizing it to form a first timber block, and then cutting a timber sheet having parallel grains. CONSTITUTION: A log is continuously sliced by a strip 11 by rotary cutting, then a natural timber sheet 13 is cut by a cutter 12, and dipped in a dyeing tank 14. The removed sheet 13 is passed via a drying oven 15, coated with an adhesive to form a first timber block 17, removed from a press 18, and then sliced along a section to obtain a timber sheet 19 having a strip pattern. Then, the dyed natural timber sheet 13 and the sheet 19 are alternately adhesively laminated. Thus, a second timber block 20 formed in a press 23 is sliced along a sectional plane, thereby obtaining a veneer sheet 26 having a briar pattern. COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO
