14 APPAREL ITEM CONFIGURED FOR REDUCED CLING PERCEPTION US15263537 2016-09-13 US20170071275A1 2017-03-16 Christian Darby
An apparel item configured to reduce the perception of cling is provided herein. The apparel item comprises a first set of outwardly-projecting nodes on a first portion of the apparel item, a second set of outwardly-projecting nodes on a second portion of the apparel item, and a third set of inwardly-projecting nodes on a third portion of the apparel item, where the third set of nodes is positioned between the first set of nodes and the second set of nodes. The first and second sets of outwardly-projecting nodes comprise apertures that provide a communication passage from an outer surface of the apparel item to an inner surface of the apparel item. Besides reducing the surface area of the apparel item that comes into contact with a wearer's skin surface, the nodes also facilitate cooling the wearer and speed up drying times of the apparel item when being worn.
15 Sock US10290369 2002-11-08 US07213420B2 2007-05-08 Justin Lynch; Maria Bourke; Andrew Thompson
A knitted sock has an inner layer 2 comprising a toe end 4 and an outer layer 3 comprising a toe end 7. The inner and outer toe ends are aligned and joined wale stitch to wale stitch to form a composite toe end, which is closed to provide a flat toe seam 10. The layered sock is manufactured complete in a single process being knit continuously from the inner toe end to the outer toe end. It comprises reciprocated heel and toe portions. The foot portion of the inner layer is knit from a yarn with properties such as a low coefficient of friction and/or antifungal/antibacterial properties. The low friction fiber is a fluoropolymer such as polytetrafluroethylene. The outer layer may comprise a cushion structure.
16 Firefighter garment with combination facecloth and moisture barrier US852432 1997-05-07 US5920905A 1999-07-13 Donald Aldridge
A firefighter garment which includes an outer shell, a thermal layer and a combination moisture barrier and facecloth. In the preferred embodiment, the combination moisture barrier and facecloth layer includes a semi-permeable component, such as polytetrafluoroethylene, which is attached to a facecloth material of a high lubricity filament yarn. The semi-permeable component functions as a moisture barrier and the filament yarn component provides a low friction interface between the garment and its wearer, thereby reducing heat stress imposed on the wearer of the garment during firefighting activity. The filament component also functions as a substrate for the moisture barrier. In the preferred embodiment, the thermal liner includes a layer of apertured flame and heat resistant unicellular or closed cell foam which is positioned between the outer shell and the combination moisture barrier and facecloth. The foam also has a substrate of low-friction woven or knit filament material which faces the outer shell to reduce friction between the outer shell and the thermal liner.
17 Firefighter garment with low friction liner system US651817 1996-05-21 US5819316A 1998-10-13 Donald Aldridge
A firefighter garment having a low friction liner system which includes an outer shell made of an abrasion resistant material, a moisture barrier layer made of a water-resistant material, a thermal barrier layer and a layer of material having flame, heat and high-lubricity properties positioned within the outer shell. In one embodiment, the high-lubricity layer is composed of a fire resistant filament yarn and is attached to the inside face of the thermal liner; that is, the face positioned next to the clothing of a wearer of the garment. In another embodiment, the layer of high-lubricity material is positioned to form a substrate for the moisture barrier and is located between the moisture barrier and outer shell. A garment having two layers of high-lubricity material, one forming an inside face of the thermal liner and the other forming an interface between the moisture barrier and outer shell, is also preferable. Alternately, the high-lubricity material is in the form of patches positioned at areas of high movement and friction on the garment, such as the shoulders and elbows of a coat, and the knees of a pant. All of the aforementioned embodiments reduced the friction between the layers of the garment, and between the garment and the wearer, thereby reducing the amount of energy expended by wearer of the garment while moving. This reduction of energy reduces the amount of stress imposed by the garment on a wearer.

20 REPOSITIONABLE MOISTURE MANAGEMENT MATERIAL THAT CREATES A BARRIER TO SKIN-ON-SKIN CONTACT US15904017 2018-02-23 US20180185198A1 2018-07-05 MIRIAM S. CLARKE
An article of clothing can be used to reduce or prevent the occurrence of prolonged skin-on-skin contact, rashes, irritation, intertrigo, infections, discomfort, or chaffing. Such an article of clothing has a moisture management material made up of at least an outer layer, an inner layer, and a tab. The moisture management material is attached to a portion of the article of clothing via a tab of the moisture management material. The moisture management material may be of various shapes and sizes and preferably fits within a prescribed area of the article of clothing. The moisture management material may be variably positioned within the article of clothing to provide differing results such as additional support and/or moisture absorbing or moisture moving where necessary. Preferably the article of clothing is a brassiere but may be a shirt, diaper, pants, socks, panties, or other undergarments.
