Gegenüber bekannten Lätzchen hat das erfindungsgemäße Lätzchen den Vorteil, dass die Bekleidung des Kindes oder pflegebedürftigen Person auch im Beinbereich vor herunterfallenden Essensresten geschützt ist. Zusätzlich sind auch die Ärmel der Bekleidung geschützt, wobei ein zusätzlicher Schutz durch Ärmelabschluss erreicht wird. Anders als bekannte Lätzchen, die nur den Brustbereich schützen, schützt das erfindungsgemäße Lätzchen entsprechend sowohl den Brustbereich als auch den Arm- und Beinbereich.

Um dem zu begegnen wird nach der Erfindung ein Kragenband vorgeschlagen, das dem Kleinkind so um den Hals gebunden wird, daß es in der Lage ist, den Speichel aufzunehmen und dadurch das Benässen der Haut, wie auch die Verschmutzung der Bekleidung zu verhindern.
